I was watching Death Note with my hubby. (Am at the part where L is dead please do not spoil it for me if you are further then me)Anyway even though I like L and Light I found myself rooting for Light, so he doesn't get caught . His reason for killing makes sense it's that whole vigilante thing you did something evil to be so am taking the law in my own hands things, but like anything it will screw the person at least in amine it does, Any who it's not with just Death Note that am routing for the bad guy. I guess it would be a nice change of base for the story and sometimes I root for the bad guy if they have a good reason or back story for being bad, but they have to be a smart bad guy. I can't stand the ones who are all like I just want to take over the world.
My questions to mylotters is this when you watch a movie, anime ,TV shows do you root for the bad guy to win sometimes?

maybe, Ive watch an anime were the good guy was beaten and killed by the bad guy.
the anime was called " devil man " it also has a live action movie, were in the last part the villain was called satan and the good guy was devil man, fighting over on the triumph between good and evil. but in the last part devil was torn to half by satan and being killed. the last part of the was satan so sad of what he had done to his friend and tried to contain himself due to his love of his friend.

thank you! Well I suggest you watch the live action because its ending is like in the anime! and it is also much blood and gore in the movie, but its in japanese language. but you can watch the movie in crunchyroll.com and search "devilman movie liveaction" with subtitles in english.

It depends on the situation of the anime, like in Code Geass, you sit there watching this supposed bad guy, Lelouch Lamperouge, also known as Zero, is fighting against the Britannia Empire to free what is known as Area-11, formerly Japan, and restore it to what it had been. To do so however he ends up killing many people, and seems as if he's the bad guy, but I find my self hoping for him to succeed, I will not spoil it for you if you haven't seen it, but at the end of the series he get's axactly what he wants...

You took the words right out of my mouth ; I would think that same exact thing to myself all the time. With Inuyasha I felt that the bad guy should win at least once, because the bad guy kept getting stronger and the base of the store was the same except new demon.

I often root for the bad guy, especially when the good guys are so smug and self-righteous. And I don't like a steady diet of shows or movies that have happy endings. They're okay most of the time but we all know life isn't like that! Sure, I like escapism but sometimes I like just a tinge of reality mixed in with it.

I am the same if the good guy is so self righteous then I don't root for him either or if the good guy win is predicable . I like happy endings as long as it's not to sappy of unrealistic, like some movies using happy ending cliche; I hate those. Yeah I know what you mean I like movies and shows that have a bit of reality mixed into it in life sometimes the bad guy wins, but some how some way get screwed off in the end.

I actually find myself doing that a lot. I start rooting for the bad guys when the good guys start annoying me by sprouting all this junk about how they are superior because what they are doing what is right and things like that. I hate it when the good guys act all goody-goody. Plus, the bad guys usually has a more interesting backgrounds and reason for being bad in the first place.

You are so right the bad guys normally do have the better background stories. I really can't stand how some good guys have this whole monologue about themselves ; in those cases I wish the bad guy would just kill them right in the middle of that speech. Yeah many times when the good guy starts annoying me I root for bad guy automatic, but sometimes you have those few shows when both the good guy and bad guy are annoying LOL and that when you know your watching a bad show LOL
