STEM CELL research is a research involving the creation, usage and destruction of human embryonic stem cells. Not all stem cell research involves the creation, usage and destruction of human embryos. Extraction of such cells using current technology requires the destruction of the human embryo. this research created a conflict between oponents of pro-life and the people who are supporting the research. now there is a news that President Obama lifted the stem cell ban. what is your stand? does this research need to push through or not?

Formerly stem cell research funding is frozen by bush administration until the last existing stem cell line. Majority of the people do not understand the differences of stem cells researched. Basically two types existed at the font front of today biotechnology breakthrough namely embryonic and adult stem cell. Majority of embryonic stem cell line can be obtained through aborted fetus, when women decided to end their pregnancy, with or without the research, the embryo end up in the trash. So when pro life claimed it is unethical and murder is ridiculous, the research itself is not same as performing abortion or encouraging murder, rather just a convenient way to advance this field.
Due to many misinformation and distorted truth, this stem cell stuff has become a political issue and resulted in many ridiculous and stupid attention unnecessary lately. With this new ruling, it means government is interested in funding this new frontier of biotechnology advances, nothing has indicated that it is encouraging woman to go for abortion or pay them to do so, but pro-right group is gearing up for a holy war on it now, it is childish and insane.

Let say you can either dump all the trash and garbage in a land fill and bury them when they are full, or you can have them in a well designed dump to harness the inherent energy like methane or ammonia gas from these organic wastes to meet some of your energy needs. So basically stem cell research has nothing to do with pro-life ( it is not about killing baby) or pro-choice ( it's not about preventing woman rights to their body) at all, but it was a biotechnology research that had the potential of curing some diseases when present medicine can not find the answer. But due to foolishness from both sides, it becomes an ethical, woman rights and political issue now.

I must say that the your response is very well put and said. I do not know much on this issues. My husband being a very well educated man explained in depth to me. Between him and you I know have a better understand of this issue thank you!

USA is considered backward in this field of biotechnology worldwide. Many countries do not have all these baggage and nonsense of pro-life or pro-choice dragging back their advances, most of them are able to use this technology to cure some diseases modern medicines can not. It is so silly that a scientific research can be distorted to become a religious and political issue in USA for various interests group.

Stem cells are seen by many researchers as having virtually unlimited application in the treatment and cure of many human diseases and disorders including Alzheimer's, diabetes, cancer, strokes, etc.
Many pro-lifers believe that human life, in the form of an ovum and spermatozoon, becomes a human person at the time of fertilization. They view the killing of an embryo in order to extract its stem cells to be a form of homicide. They are generally opposed to such research. Others disagree. They believe that an embryo has the potential to develop into a person, but is not a person itself. They note that an embryo is not sentient; it has no brain, sensory organs, ability to think, awareness of its surroundings, consciousness, internal organs, arms, legs, head, etc. They feel that research using stem cells derived from embryos is ethical. Fortunately, if iPS cell technology develops as expected, it will eventually replace the need to derive stem cells from embryos.

so in your opinion, are you in favor of it. what is your stand? yes i agree that this embryo can develop into a person but not yet a person. using it to cure is not killing it for it has its another purpose. i think if this will push through all we need to be or to do is to use it properly. embryo to save life, why not? thanks a lot for the response, and have a cool day

I think that it definately opens up a new door where science and healing are involved. It would mean so much for a paraplegic to walk or a disabled child healed. I think there are a lot of issues to be worked out and I'm not sure how they intend on human embryos.I do think, howevet, that man should have limits where science is involved.

that is where the scary part enters. man should have limits when science is involve, but as you know man... as long as they can get hold on it they tend to be greedy and ambitious. that sometimes it leads to getting out of control. well i just hope for the best, to heal people specially those who really needed it. thanks a lot for the response

The research need to be push through. That's what I think. If they come up with a cure for different things with it why not. Everyone has a different view on stem cell research. If the research help me to walk again, or help the lady down the street remember her children then we need it.

true! if it will be in a great use then there is no need to stop. if will only harm or create more sickness then they beed to stop. i think they still need to allow the research then decide at the end of it. it is not yet happening and a lot are against it already. thanks a lot for the response
