What's the best remedy for "sore throat"?

I think this is my worst sore throat ever...because right now I almost don't have a voice, it's husky when I force myself to speak...I have a sore throat, due to bad whether here in the philippines because sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's cold...and maybe also due to pollution because I'm just commuting going to work, sometimes the aircon of the bus when I go home at night is so high and extreme.
I'm taking lozenge and antitussive for two days already...I hope by tomorrow my throat will have an improvement...
When you experience bad sore throat what other method of treatments do you take?

I have found gargling with luke warm and a pinch of salt very effective. We get a water soluble form of aspirin called dispirin which can also be added to the water and gargled with. It really helps. And of course we need to give the throat a rest and avoid talking too much.
