While I appreciate your charity and as the mother of an autistic daughter, I admire you for it, but there are many organizations that are far better. Why would you support an organization where a founding member admitted she wanted to kill her autistic daughter and has taught her other daughter to hate the autistic daughter?

Wow... Seriously? Where did this come from? Do you have a link I can read about this? I heard something like this, but heard it was the co-founder of AutismSpeaks... But I do have to agree.... right now I would rather donate to the schools who are helping the Autistic children.

There's a youtube video of the woman saying it. It's hard to find, but when I do I'll post the link. Not a single person on the board of Autism Speaks is autistic. None of their money goes to help autistic people. The money only goes for research and ways to cure autism, including finding the gene that causes autism. Their aim is to cure autism before the child is born. The only cure is termination of the pregnancy. I can't imagine life without my daughter. Without autism I would have never seen a four leaf clover or learned to listen to the quietest of whispers. I'll be honest, it isn't always easy. Just moments ago there was a mini meltdown over butter, yes butter. She's in her room after stomping off over having to get butter out of the freezer. When she's calmed down she'll be back and we'll make the recipe she wants to make. If she woke up tomorrow no longer autistic, I would mourn my lost child. Here's a link for some information by people with autism. It covers their opinion of Autism Speaks. http://www.wrongplanet.net/

I feel you & I have spoken the same words you just spoke... If my son woke up tomorrow not Autistic... I would feel I have lost a child as well... Some people don't understand this because they think we as parents would want to fix this... but why fix something that isn't really broke?
