Observations So Far So Good, Exponential Curve - Could Be True....

Exponential Curve - Could this exponential curve generally describe our activities in myLot?

Hi guys!~ I've been observing the trend in myLot in terms of starting discussions, I guess it could be true for responses as well. At the end of the month it seems that discussions flood in by the dozens as everyone is trying to reach payout? Then comes the beginning of the month where it slowly fizzles as I guess most people are busy with work, then at mid of the month the pace slowly picks up again.....so have you noticed? An exponential curve? What say you? Just my observation & humble opinion

I remember studying exponential curves in school, lol. I think that your right though that at the end of the month people flood in to make payout and then at the beginning it slowly dwindles down to not very many discussions at all, and then mid month it picks back up. I've been trying to experiment with ways of making money on here, but most of all I'm trying to have as much fun on here as possible. A discussion I found from years ago has got me to wanting to test out how many posts I can make and how much that will earn me, so as to be able to not be on here as much and just have fun! Great discussion!

Well, that's just me!~ Haha!~I just love to make observations!~ Earning never came across my mind actually when I did this little experiment of mine. Was just doing for the fun of it but I guess the results do help in many ways though!~Thanks for your response!~

Hmm....I think it's more or less tied to the discussion thingy as well? Well, I guess that'll have to wait when I'm really in the mood? Haha!~I'm actually quite busy lately, haha!~If I do make any observations & have any results, I'l let you know!~

I like your theory zweeb but - may I add to it? There are two sorts of users basically here I feel. Those in it 'just for the money' and the others. The first category are those you notice when your curve goes up and the others are the ones that are always here. Having said that someone has to be different don't they... I start the month noticing that there are fewer crappy discussions and more with interesting topics and I have a lot of fun at the begiinning of the month. I also manage to make payout before or around the 15th too. I don't do it by starting new discussions but by discussing on mine and on others. It's the comments backwards and forwards that boost up the discussions in my opinion and once I've hit payout I experiment that personal theory. So the second half of the month Ijust jump backwards and forwards where Ihave already landed before but also on older, even very older discussions with more comments. After all, isn't that what a dicussion is about? So now we are into the second half and we must wade through the pizzas, the colours and the pepsi & coke discussions again in the next few days...*sighs*.

This particular one falls into the first category obviously. Well it's only 16th and yesterday was a Sunday so I guess technically it's stil the first half.... (well that's my story and I hope it passes )

I was about to reply to your response but alas, myLot went into system upgrade & maintenance mode so I couldn't do that yesterday. I'm I'm rushing here to reply & gonna take my bath & off I'll be going out for a meeting, hectic, hectic, hectic!~So here goes: I always love your responses as they are quality responses & I love your analysis & insight on this one!~ Some will never think or give a thought before responding as like you mentioned - they're in it just for the money!~ Honestly, who's here not for the $$, well at least at the initial stage but hey, as we are here long enough, we know that $$ as the sole motivational factor is just not enough so I have to totally agree with you on this one!~

Zweeb, you may want to add interesting discussions vs crappy discussions on your variables. Lol!

LOL! Very technical of you! But yes I have noticed the trend in discussions. People relax at the begining of the month after payout then start working harder towards the end of the month whilst desperately trying to reach the next payout!

Haha!~Yes, I know can be very technical at certain things at times, haha!~And especially when I ask about tech stuff, I'm like so technical that my wife has to stop me at times 'cause I scare the living daylights out of the sales people at times, haha

Yep, exactly like you observed. Beginning of the month is usually the busy period where everyone is trying hard to finish up the work load for the month. And when the more menial tasks are completed, the work load also starts to lessen from mid month onwards. That is where we have a little breather to afford a little more breaks to come to mylot to post. So it is not surprising that nearing the end of the month, you see more people posting as compared to the rest of the month! And it so happens to coincide with the payout cut off date!

Yeah, I guess that's the norm but as you can see that it took me 1 day to reply to your response as I'm super duper busy!~ Haha!~Like I did mentioned in anther discussion of mine in 3 days time I'll be off here for 3 days again as I'll be helping out in a youth camp organized by my church!~ It's school holidays here so it's normally busier I guess? HahaI'm actually trying to reply to as many responses as possible, don't even mention about the new discussions & new tasks that has surfaced for now, haha

Your opinion is quite possible and even applicable in any situation that you could consider work. I mean, when pay day is close, people are getting more active as they look forward to getting their pay.. Here in this site, after striving to reach their minimum, of course, they feel relieved that they reached payout.. so I guess a momentary rest period is present.

I wouldn't exactly agree totally on the statement you made "people are getting more active as they look forward to getting their pay.." as it might be generally true but if you see some of the people work you'll just shake your head

Yes i have noticed the same thing, and i believe that, that is what it is everyone is trying to make up for what they did not do through the month. I try to do some my lotting every day, so i do not have to play catch up at the end of the month. some days i have more time than others, and i try to divide that time between all the programs that i am in. But i always try to check back here at my lot a few times during the day to see if their is something new that i can respond too.

In this case, it's slow & steady wins the race? It's really easier a bit a day rather than the last minute rush which can be very stressful!~

I have noticed this also. I have also noticed that my earnings are not so good at the beginning of the month but they start to pick up towrds the middle and the end of the month.

That's what I figured as well. So now we can say that the exponential curve applies to the discussions vs. earning as well

YEah, the fastest and easiest way to earn in mylot, is to keep starting more discussions.. lol =D Because one only needs to start a good post, and money will keep rolling in without the starter doing anymore things.. lol =D UNlike one whom respond to discussions.. We need to respond to at least 20 posts to earn about 20cents, while starter of one post, will earn as much with 20 responses to it.. lo =D

But I guess I'm not the type who just start discussions for the sake of raking in the ¢ ( although that is a very good strategy, haha!~ ) but I actually appreciate the responses & do take time to reply back to them as there are those who put in effort in responding, not just for the sake of the $ & ¢!~ If it's just a short any old how response, I'll just reply in brief; if it's effort I see put in, then it'll be a quality reply!~

What is this economics terms....definitely not for me but as to respond to your discussion what you say is true but for me this time round is I want to reach payout next month so I am on myLot all the time when I am online. Even if I have no time because of all the online selling, I will still myLot a bit.

If you see a little rise on the graph every 15th of the month, then that's me. Transactions on my part usually happens every 15th of the month so that week is the busiest week for me. For now i can relax because i'll be receiving payout next month. As far as end of the month is concerned, it's also a busy week for me trying to help out friends to reach the payout by responding to their discussions.

Hello zweeb82! I agree with your observations and pattern. That's what I thought too. I have been here for 6 months and I can say that every at the end of the month, mylot is very busy. There are many responses coming especially for those members who are trying to reach payout. It happened to me too when I was cents away from payout. You really use your expertise here..lol

Expertise? Where? What? Who? Ahaha!~Yeah, it's just like a last minute sprint!~ Well, I have been very busy lately & I haven't reached the halfway mark yet, I hope I can make up for lost time but anyway, the busy with my business part would have covered more for the ¢ made here but yet I just love the myLot community & friends here

you are so shrewd,I don't notice that before because I don't know mylot only charges us at the end or begining of the month, now I just noticed that and what you said is true, the trend is reasonable. have a nice day

That's an interesting observation. I wonder if there is any correlation between the amount we make per "interesting" post and the frequency of posts going on at that time? For instance, would I get paid more for this post if it was during the beginning of the month or at the end? More mysteries of mylot's algorithm!

I don't think it has anything to do if it's beginning or end of the month as the earning should be the same!~ Only thing is the more responses you get for a discussion you've started, it'll normally be at the top of "Friends Started" under the discussions tab. It may be a discussion from a very long time ago, but if some one revives it by responding to it then it'll resurface

That's totally me! I'm guilty as charged. I rushed back on the last day of the month and made payout. It was my first payout in four months. Just wanted a little extra cash in my Paypal account. I used to post daily, but not so much anymore. Well, I'm posting today, so that's something. Hopefully, I won't have to rush around on the last day of the month anymore. Just a little posting everyday helps me reach payout monthly.
