I Pod Vs other MP3 Player

So im going on holiday soon and want to listen to music as i chill by the pool and as i a have never owned an I Pod or MP3 player i would like to know peoples opinions on them. Creative MP3 player looks good value but I Pod has the brand name and everyone seems to have one so should i go for one of them. Please help and give me your experiences of which is better.
