i got a new puppy about a month ago and i cant seem to get her to stop going potty in the house. Ive tried puppy pads,, and spanking her. Nothing is working. I take her water from her at 6pm. and she only gets fed twice a day. I take her out right after breakfast and dinner. Any suggestions?

Trying to housebreak a new puppy is rough! Sometimes it can takes months. The dog probably can't control it yet, but she'll learn as time progresses. What helped the most with my dog was to take her outside every couple of hours and repeat the word "OUT" to her. That way, she learned to associate going potty with the word "out", and I would ask her, "do you want to go out?". If she needed to go, she would jump and run to the door. When the puppy goes in the house, point to the mess and say "NO" firmly, and then place the dog outside while repeating "OUT". It might take a while, but having a dog as a companion is worth it!
Good luck!!

I have trained my dogs to respond when I ask them if they need to go potty. They will run to the door, once outside they do their business and want back in or they will play but they know to potty first.
Your right it is worth all the time, I love my babies.

While what i about to say will upset some, it is true to my observations: Puppies are like children.
You need to potty train your dog by taking it outside and telling it to "go potty" every thirty minutes while you are home. At night you need to eake up atleast twice and take the dog out. It is a pain in the rear but it will work.(both of mine will go outside and go potty and then come back in when told to)
If after a month this has not stopped the problem then go buy a crate for you dog. While you are away from home your furry friend needs to be "in his room" I have actually trained my little Piggy (pictured left) to enter his crate by telling him to go to his room. He loves it there, yours will also.
Think of potty training as a trick, you have to practice it with your pet and reward good behavior. You will want to block off parts of your home until you can trust your dog (I have baby gates to keep mine out of the hallway and kitchen, to go to those parts of the house is a special treat)
I also feed my Piggy ouside because of his "active digestive system" He needs to be outside within 30 min. of eating, so I put him out and feed him and then get ready for my day.
I hope this helps, it will take alot of work on your part, I am serious about the every 30 minutes (I put mine on a leash so they know I mean no play time, just potty time) And getting up in the night will not last forever, just until your little one can hold her bladder all night (mine were able to around 4 months old)

as you've said hes still a puppy after many times of teaching and proper training your puppy will get used to it and soon you will see how your efforts have paid off.
