Jesus said, "In My Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." What is meant by that statement? I discussed this one with my wife. Do you think He meant that there would be white marble mansions up yonder, with a penthouse, etc, or whatever? What rooms can you imagine in such a mansion? Can you envision a kitchen up there? Will there even be any food? How about a bedroom? Our bodies won't need sleep any longer. A bathroom? We won't need to pee and poop anymore. How about a TV room? Jesus Christ will be our recreation, our Shining Star. He will BE the main attraction. So what do we need with a TV room, or a game room, when we will already be with the most beautiful, the most vibrant, the most exciting being in the universe? How about a garden? These eyes of ours will have no need for any other beauty than that which we will experience in the Throne Room of God--Jesus Himself. I am beginning to believe that Heaven will be one big room--a huge church, a House of Worship. Jesus will be sitting on the Throne, and we will be standing before Him throughout all Eternity (until the thousand year reign of Christ back on Earth) giving Him praise and glory. I wouldn't be too surprised if there were no seats or chairs there, either. I think the one exception to that rule will be at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, when we will all sit down and eat with our King, Jesus Christ. That will probably be our last and only time for fellowship in our Eternal Journey. Once we leave Heaven, we will be dispatched to our assigned places of rule. We will have responsibility of ruling and reigning over the next thousand years with Him--the nations of the Earth. The dead who died in Him are around His Throne, praising Him. Do you disagree? What do you think his "mansions" connotes?

Heaven is not a physical place, it is a state of being. G'd's House is Heaven. How can a human ever picture the perfection of G'd? How could anyone ever describe the presence of G'd to a mear human? We would never be able to comprehend the awesomeness of it. So it is described as a wonderful Mansion, something we could picture in our heads. We do not need to know exactly what Heaven is going to be. We just need to know that we will be in the presence of G'd, The Master of the Universe for eternity. Isn't that enough? Shalom~Adoniah

Well said and well expressed. Not everything is to be taken literally. I noticed that you left out the 'o' in the word God. Are you Jewish? I am a Catholic christian

I believe that the writers in the Bible often used language we do understand to describe something we can't possibly understand. So who wouldn't want to live in a mansion? It represents wealth and luxury. And to most of Jesus' listeners it was completely out of reach. I don't expect a physical mansion, but I do expect Heaven to be more wonderful than I can begin to image.

There is a theory in biblical studies that the word mansion (which comes from the King James version) has actually changed meaning over the years to something much grander than it used to be, so perhaps ideas of white marble mansions are irrelevant when considering the time of Jesus there would be no direct correlation, and that perhaps the word mansion should be more accurately translated from the Greek as 'cave'.

I do believe that the 'mansions' you talking about is that, each one of us is the mansion of God. He wanted to live with us in peace and as well build mansion. Strong and have faith in him.It is called a room because all mankind are the rooms of God's mansion. Our faith is to say thank you to God's goodness to us and to open our hurts so that he can come in and role his mansion. Yes, I disagree about the room, kitchen and that material thing. All I want to say is that when we talk about God. We should exalt him because God sacrifices everything for us. And we should be grateful about it. We are beautiful in the eyes of God no matter what others would think about you and or someone else.
