I want to know how safe is online banking. Many of the computers will have viruses, trojans, worms which may not be detected by antiviruses. Not all the malwares are detected by a single antivirus, some are detected by only some antivirus. So we might be harboring lot of viruses, keyloggers in our computer. So there is a possibility of your login informations are sent to some remote person. I have not used online banking till now, I want to know how safe it is. Please let me know.

I use online banking for six years now with Wachovia and nothing bad have happen. I use AVG for my antiviruse and zone alarm for firewall. If you are a little nervous about banking online and interesting in doing that, you can check you account at least once a day to make sure all transactions are correct. You can also ask your bank what will happen to your money if an issue about someone getting into your account without your knowledge and what will they do about that situation in getting your money back if they get a hold on it.

I've been doing online banking for almost 8 years and never encountered any problems. I am maintaining two accounts from different banks and their online banking are efficient. Same with online shopping, I have been a regular online shopper and just the same never encountered any security problem. I think one of the important thing to consider is having your own computer when you do online transactions. It would be very risky to use public computers.

I cannot say for all the banks but in my case I am pretty much confident that they have not been hacked for so long now. I have not read or heard of any news that they were hacked by someone. if they have I guess they were able to make immediate action. An insider from the bank said they hired hackers that they would reward anyone from them if they could hacked into the system and they claimed that since they were hired none have been able to hacked their system.

To me, it is pretty safe with online banking. Here we have additional authentication using either a gadget or phone to enter an extra PIN. Besides that, I just make sure I login from a safe computer using a trusted internet connection. I would clear the cache before and after the online banking.

Online banking is very safe. The bank sites do their transactions on their secure server.I pay my phone bills and send money to friends on online banking. If you use the virtual keyboard for passwords.no one will be able to guess your password.Another safe method of banking.

I could not possibly know how safe Online banking is or anything else you do Online but I do know even if you are doing your banking in person you are still doing banking Online in one form so I suppose if anyone wanted to, they could easily access your account one way or the other whether you are standing in there in the line at the bank or sitting in your living room, Online is Online anyway you look at it!
I can say though that I have been baking Online for quite a while and never had any problems!

I have 100% confidence in my particular online banking account. I have used it for many years and the security is first class. I always have my antivirus spyware running which also includes keylogger protection.

I think online banking is pretty safe. I personally don't do it but not because I don't
think it isn't safe or because I don't want to, but because I don't know how to set it
up or anything about how to do it. And is it worth the trouble? I am not that computer
savey so if it is even a little difficult to use, I won't use it.
I pay all my bills by telephone and that has been working for me for the last 10 years
so I think I will just stick to that. I like things that are easy.
When I purchase things online I use my paypal account and if they don't accept payment
that way I don't purchase it. Except airline tickets with WestJet. I have my visa
registered with them so I don't have to always enter my information but that I set up
by telephone and by computer at the same time because I didn't want to make a mistake.

Yea ur wright there are lot viruses, trojans, worms...... You can do evry thing to secure ur self anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware. U can never have complete protection. All of that banking is encrypted so is pretty safe like 2^128, try to calculate that lol

Online banking is safe if you do not have trojans and stuff. It isn't the online aspect that makes your computer dangerous, it is the trojans that can pick up anything you type, even the prompt to this discussion. You should feel free to use online banking if you do not have symptoms of viruses, like a slow computer or odd new things happening that you did not tell your computer to do, and if you feel that you have not downloaded and opened any files you were not sure of which could be viruses.

That all depends on the bank you are with. You are more likely to have money stolen by someone getting into the bank's own system, or by stealing your card number from a site (Amazon etc) than by someone using a key logger on your computer when you log into your account. The banks make it VERY difficult for people to get in who aren't supposed to.
I've been using online banking for years and not had a single problem.

I dont know about how safe is online banking, but most of the transactions like paying bills, booking train tickets i do it online itself through my online banking a/c. I use it only keeping less balance in my account so that even if there is something that happens, i need not loose much. Mine is a personal pc and hence i am not worried of keyloggers because am the owner of my computer, virus etc, i have anti virus and i also see to it that i am safe as much as possible.

i don't know how safe is online banking, but sure everywhere have risks and useful tasks, but we are trying to avoid it, we follow some guidelines given by the bank and our friends, yes there is possibility but i don't know more about that but we can't able to avoid doing online banking because it is fast and it saves lot of time instead of going to bank and sitting in a long queue

My father is actualy one of those hackers that is hired to work for banks! His job is to make sure that OTHER people cannot get into the system! Each year, the banks have to get this checked to make sure that nothing bad will happen. Online banking is safe, because there are people protecting us against getting our information taken. There is still a chance of it happening, but it is lessened because of that.
