Do you read the background of the questions before responding to discussions?

I always read the full background and explanation of the discussions before posting my responses because I want to make it sure I answered the discussion correctly. I noticed that there are some answers which did not address correctly the topic.
Do you do this?reading first the explanation of the question before answering?

for me, i only read what the topic starter's question and expalnation... it is a must to read what the topic starter is aksking before you make your response and also for you to have a good response to the topic starter. since, response to topic stater also based on your own opinion and knowledge, for me, if you have the same thought as others, it is fine

Hello friend,
I had started a similar topic some time back and I got a lot of responses!
yes, I do like to read the entire description of the discussion before preparing my reply. Otherwise, I might miss out on some key points.
Sometimes, when you read the title of the discussion itself, its description becomes very obvious, like in this case here. Then, I do not feel the need to go through the entire description.
When the discussion is too long then I try to skim through it in order to get a summary of what the host is trying to explain.

Hi jlamela, it is a must for me to read the whole of the content and understand what the creator tries to express in it before answering it. I hope by doing so I then could answer the post correctly. Sometimes I would like to add some extra ideas which are not included in the content when replying the discusssion, and I hope that this could make my reply a bit varied and lively. I believe the creator would feel happy as well if we have answered his question correctly, and it is easier for him too to add his comment on the response received.
In case I come across any discussion which I am interested but with lengthy content, and it is also started by my friend, I would like to read it and answer it later on, when I could spare much spare time to stay here, as I need longer time to read and to understand it.
Happy posting and take care.

I always try to do that, especially when the question is so interesting, it just convinces me to read the whole discussion so that I would know how they got to think of such an interesting question.. but, often times, the question being posted already sums up the whole discussion yet, I still end up reading everything either way.. (^_^")

Yes i do. It is important to read what the topic starter has to say about the topic. I won't be responding right away unless i am done reading the background. It would be shameful on my part if i'm the only one with different response that's way offtopic. Some myLotters are careless enough because they want to respond right away while missing the point of the topic.

Hi jlamela,
Yes I do read the whole text of the discussion before giving a respond to it. I need to fully understand what the discussion starter wants to know or is discussing...
happy mylotting

I also read the background of the discussion of which I am going to respond. As you say, some times it becomes ridiculous to read the responses because the responder did not read the full background. It all happens because one is always hurried about getting as much as posts as possible. As the TOS of mylot says, one should not only read the background but also other responses, if any.
