Hello there!
I'm very happy today because I can send free sms from my yahoo ID to my friend's phone. I'm in Malaysia right now, so I try to send to malaysian ID (Digi and Celcom card).
Firstly, you open www.webmessenger.yahoo.com and login with your user ID and the password. After the page opened, click add mobile contact (do not forget the code, for malaysia is +60) press enter...
How to send the message? scroll down the contacts box until you get the number, then click on the button and choose send text message
The message will be delivered soon. I tried to send sms to another coutry but cannot. Hopefully this tips will help you if you do not have any balance to sms hehehe...
Happy mylotting!

Thanks for your kind information. Is it working always? Is there any limit for the number of characters? If the above are OK,very nice to hear.Is this service available internationally? Even if it is available to all at present , we can not relay on Yahoo for any thing, as they may with draw their service at any moment without any information.

It's a boundary, you must send to your local number hoho. I don't think that there are limit of the character. If you send it, it will take sometime to deliver. You can try it to send sms to your own phone first. You will get 2 message, one from you and one from yahoo. Yahoo will charge you get the message and reply it. So, it is ok not to reply it to your phone instead of the original message.
So do not forget to put your name and your phone number if you sms by your yahoo email :D

There is a limit of 140 characters for sending a text message, its because your yahoo id is included in the message, example is like this:
sophie_dfuss: Hey mate, don't forget to go the pub tonight. We will be expecting you...

If you are already using the service, you just need to go online either Yahoo messenger or Yahoo Mail Beta
You need to select "Send text message" and a window will appear. You need to put the complete international number like +6012234656. Compose a message about 140 characters only then send it. Its simple
