Have you ever made a bandaid from something standard in your home?

How did you do it? Was it out of necessity or frugality?
I recently cut my self while at work . I had to run across the street to the pharmacy and purchase antibiotic cream , band aids , and tape since it was bleeding profusely.
Cost was $15.27. I then left those items at work for the first aid kit.
Then doing dishes the other evening i cut my self on a chipped plate (which is now a Mosaic piece..lol) I of course didn't have any band aids in the house. So I got out the coffee filters , a roll of electrical tape , and the antibiotic cream. i cut a filter in half folded it and then placed the cream on it and cut a 6 inch piece of electrical tape and wrapped around the wound. Oh my was it a great fix. The bandage was water proof even stayed on in the shower after i finished cleaning kitchen. Then hubby figured out the cost and it was 5 cents for all three items. so we have added cut coffee filters and a roll of electrical tape to the first aid kits in our home , car , and garage.
Let me know what you have used for homemade bandages?

No, I can't say that I personally have. My uncle who was recently divorced and living on his own called me once to come look at his finger he had cut. When I got there it was bandaged with paper towels and duct tape.

The funniest thing that I used was a tampon. Yes, a tampon. I cut my leg when I caught it on a nail and while it wasn't deep, it was long. I had nothing that would cover it completely and didn't want anything to get into it so I grabbed a tampon, cut off the string and taped it on my leg with paper tape. It didn't move around or come loose and no one really noticed it. I usually carry some band aids, triple antibiotic cream, gauze pads and a trial sized bottle of peroxide with me. Everyone laughs because I carry a backpack but they aren't chuckling when they get a cut - they know I'm pretty much always prepared.
