hello savypat
the green hair piece that you purchased in the mall does sound like fun to wear in your hair on a day like today. lol and i did go into work for awhile today, but i did not wear anything green thou. lol i have green eyes, so therefore i was wearing something green today. lol right? and my family and myself aren't doing anything special today at all for Saint Patrick's day. it is just another day to all of us, although, i am half Irish. lol i do not even know if i have any earrings that have the green color on them. lol i do not think that i do. but i do have one green sweater that i could have worn today, but there was just one little problem with wearing that green sweater today, lol, we are up in the seventies this afternoon, so it was too warm around here today for that green sweater. lol
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

I am of Irish Blood but the green I wore was as a child when Shamrock was sent to us by relatives in Ireland. according to my Grandmother the
'wearing of the Green' showed your religion and you could be persecuted. I can only remember a littl eof the song she used to sing:
"Oh Paddy dear, and did you hearthe news that's going round?
They said that (no more shanrock)-------is grown on Irish ground.
St. Patrick's Day, we"ll keep no more
his colour can't be seen
For they are hanging men and women for the wearing of the green.
I met with Napper Tandy and he shook me by the hand
He said how is ould Ireland and how dioes she stand?
It's the most disgraceful thing sir, that you have ever seen.
for they're hanging men and women for the wearing of the green."
I believe that his song was sung probably in the 1918 - 1920 in Ireland when the Irish rebelled. The British sent in the 'Black and Tans' to quell the rebellion. I do not know for sure.

I noticed this year a surprising large amount of people were not wearing green. I wore a green shirt today, though I didn't even really hear of anyone getting pinched for not wearing green. I saw some very cool hats at target I thought about buying because there just a buck.
