Hi everyone. I have been thinking for some time of painting my bedroom black. I have received different comments from people...Some say it will be too dark and dingy to sleep and others say the dark black colour will make it dark and cosy for sleeping.
But overall, I am wondering how it will look. SHould I paint all walls black or just 1 or 2? Have any of you ever painted a room black? Any decorating tips? Thanks

I haven't painted a room black ever - but a year ago or so I painted my room dark green, which is almost like black. I don't think it's too dark, although you should make sure you have good lighting in your room so that it's not too dim (I have this problem in my room right now, and it's super annoying). You should also consider keeping parts of it white, and making some kind of interior design. Perhaps you should keep the ceiling white, too, because that will definitely light things up.
Otherwise, you should pick up a catalog at your local hardware store (or wherever you're buying paints) and usually they will have some kind of interior design displays that you can check out to get some ideas.
Good luck!

The black & white tiles sound like a good idea. That would be very 50's style. Do you live in a cold area, though? As tiles could get pretty cold. Make sure you have good insulation in your room.
Your plan sounds good, it sounds like you have it figured out.

I guess it depends on what sort of things you are going to put around to lift it a bit, I think I would prefer to go with a black feature wall rather than the whole wall, I guess it could look good, I hated the thought of a fridge painted black but when I saw it I liked it...

I think there's nothing wrong in painting it black but give it a little extra creativity. Like you don't have paint all the walls black, you may go like black in the other wall and white on the other one so there's contrast and variation so that the walls wouldn't look boring with just black. Also, to make your room look cool, you would also have to consider like the color of your bed and bed sheets and some other furniture in your room, any color would definitely go with black 'cause it's neutral but it's a matter of arranging and making it look edgy. Creativity goes a long way and color choices would definitely bring out your personality. Good luck

I think you should paint them all black..all 4 of them!!..then use white and brown and steel accents....
The bed should be black with brown sheets and throw pillows...you should have accent tables and pieces of silver steel...and yes the floor should be black and white alternating tiles...Then you should have a funky light fixture in bright red!

Well i feel dark black are good absorbers of heat and reflect, it may cause the heat rather than coolness.
