I find it difficult to type properly or as fast as I could when my nails are "too long" (not really long in woman's definition, but long enough). My nails slip when I press the key! It's irritating so I try to keep my nails short as often as possible :)

i am the type of a person who doesn't want to have long nails. really, i trim down every once in a while because its so hard for me to maintain long nails. i cut my nails short and keep it clean. no special manicure/ pedicure thing. i am not so womanly at that! he he he. so my answer would be NO. i cannot type with long nails. that would be very uncomfortable for me to do .

I have not done this even before considering that I have very short nails ever since. My job before entails that I should have short nails since I wore gloves during rescue. Usually it is not advisable to have long nails. I have been accustomed to sporting short nails til now. I think it would be a little bit difficult to type with long nails. Though I am good at typing since I have typing classes before during my college days taking up commerce. I can even type without looking at the keyboards. But obviously it would be difficult to type with long nails.

It is very difficult to type with long nails. I like to keep my nails long and decorate with nail polish, but it takes a lot of time and I don't have time to spend for it. So, I always keep my nails short inorder to keep it clean from dirt. I can type with a speed of around 50 words per minute now, I am wondering at what speed will I type with very long nails?? It is funny to imagine.

Well, Thankfully, I'm a boy, so I keep my fingernails pretty short, I haven't ever encountered a situation like having too long fingernails, long enough to make trouble for typing... I always keep my nails well-trimmed and short,

I think it is difficult to type when my nails are too long. I don't like to grow long the nails, cause it is not convinent for me to do anything. Maybe it is beautiful for some women, but I am not. I will do lots of works every day ,it is not comfortable for me. :) Happy mylotting.

I also have experience with my long nails. I typed the documents at the night and suddenly my long nails created the problem. My long nails do not deliberately shut down my Computer. Now I don't have long nail.. Thank you..

My nails are pretty long and, obviously, I type quite slowly, or, if I try quick typing I make a lot of mistakes. Well, it`s simply one of those small complications of the everyday life with long nails. But still, they are worth of it! They are so beautiful, so sexy... I still like them.

I used to be able to grow my nails long and I used to like them that way. Yes I am a man. However as I aged I find my nails impossible to grow as when the get anywhere above the nail bed the split or break and this goes into the nail bed so I have to trim them constantly short.
What is needed is a new keyboard design where the keys are round or oval to fit the pads of the fingers and tiered so that first it is not so awkward as typing on a flat keyboard and it allow the top of the finger with a nail to rest in between the tiers on the keys. Maybe I will design one and patent it.

Well, I'm a man so I don't have that particular problem but I do find that switching to my laptop or a different keyboard slows me down. I have picked up my typing skills considerably since posting here on mylot and also writing articles and reviews on others. I used to use "Typing Instructor Deluxe" to sharpen my skills but haven't used it in a while. I think I will try it later and see what my word-per-minute is now. It also has a cool shark game for honing your typing skills as well as others.

Me too. I find it difficult to use my keyboard when I've had such long nails. So, just like you, I always keep it short. Have a great day!
