We are planning to go somewhere during the Holy Week break. But we are tired of the usual beach resort. We are thinking of a farm resort or something similar but with easy access to a Catholic church so we do not miss the religious rites. What place near Manila (say, not more than 3 hours drive away) could you suggest? If possible please tell us if it's affordable/cheap/high end.

why not try to have a picnic in Luneta park or visit the manila ocean park there. it is near intramuros and you can go to manila cathedral when our inside the inramuros.
if your near quezon city and marikina city.. they also have ecopark there.. youll have a great family time inside there. a lot of activity can be done like boating, swimming, trailing, picnic. you dont need to get out of the city just to enjoy the holy week with your family.

hmmm...i suggest you go to MT.SAMAT! it is here in bataan. but i think it will take 4hours to get there. it is very cheap. you'll just have to pay the entrance fee. it is a great place where you can have fun with family. it offers a lot of wonderful views within bataan. you can also go to their museum. you can breathe fresh air in this place.

it depends where you are coming from. if you are from the South side of the Philippines, there are good places in Batangas area that are high end end but cheap but when you are in the North part area (im sorry cant help you since im not familiar with this area). goodluck!

Oh I'm sorry I failed to mention we are in Marikina, so when I said not more than 3 hours drive away, I meant from Marikina. Is there a spicific place you can suggest? We stayed at Matabungkay Beach Resort in 2007 and last year we went to Papagayo in Subic.

Hummm... Have you heard of Kamay ni Jesus in Lucban, Quezon. The place is perfect and I'm sure you will enjoy the place. You can search it on the internet for you to be familiar with the place. Note that it is not near Manila but it will be worth it, I'm telling you. If you'll take a bus it would be a 5 hour ride but if you have you own car. It would be just three to four hour drive.

Yes,it seems everything is perfect on that place. Fresh and coldy air and water, there are trees everywhere, people are hospitable, clean, and everyhting else is perfect. And you should try the pancit lucban at Buddy Pizza place. Bring your camera and video cam ok. Take Care.
