can you move on if you won't let go?

they say that first love never dies. when you fall in love for the first time but it didn't work because your partner was going abroad, and like almost 10 years after he left, you still love that person. you like to move on because you feel stupid loving him when you don't even know if he will come back to you but you don't want to let go of your memories of him.
how will you deal with this situation?

Even it is hard,but you have to move on and you have to find another person.
Just keep it in the deep of the heart!!
