I did this 15 years ago with my baby in the car. I was rather frantic I ran into the doctors office to use the phone and call my husband. It took him at least 20 minutes to get there. My daughter slept thru the whole thing, but I felt like such an awful mother.

Once I locked my key in my truck with the engine running in my own driveway! I was too embarrassed to call for help, so I decided to figure it out on my own. Luckily my truck had a sliding back glass. It was latched but I pried it open with the only thing I could find, a spoon. Once this glass was unlatched and opened, I climbed about halfway into my truck to reach the key. Keep in mind that the opening was maybe a 20 inches square and I weigh a little over 200 pounds, so it was a tight fit! Also the truck was an extended cab so I had to stretch past the rear seating area into the front seat to get at the ignition. I managed to reach the keyring and shut off the engine thankfully.

Yes, I have done this once. But the good thing is I always carry a duplicate key in my wallet. I carry it with me all the time. I have this duplicate inserted into a small compartment in my wallet. So I really have no worries when the original key is accidentally left inside the car.

I have done this once when I was driving a car with a sun roof. Tried getting in there and several other people tried to get in also. Finally had to call a locksmith. Then once when my ex and I went to Canada and had stopped at a park to look around. When he got out he left the key in the ignition. He was able to borrow a hanger from another park goer. I was astounded at how qauickly he was able to get the hanger in the window and in position. Next thing we knew he had the lock pushed up.
