Pacquiao... back to being a Kapamilya! What are your thoughts on this?

So it is today that Pacquiao announced that he is, once again, a Kapamilya. So, what do we think about this? He said it's his decision and it's for his career growth. I think that's bull. Kapamilya insiders say that Pacquiao was not too happy with how GMA 7 handled his promotions. Well, I think he said the same thing about ABS-CBN when he left the Kapamilya Network. But, the truth at that time was that ABS-CBN couldn't afford the deal he wants. I have reliable sources on this. For me, it's all about the money. I could only imagine him in the meeting rooms in ABS-CBN with the big bosses of the network, negotiating money. Pacquiao may display a patriotic front, playing the hero of the masses, but the truth is, he is just another businessman. For Manny, Money Matters. Sad but true.

Well I guess being a bankable personality you could really dictate your price. I think that is just being practical. Anyone who can afford my fee wins. Well I am just thinking ABS should see to it that they could meet the demands of Manny Pacquiao and Manny would also perform what is expected of him. I think that is really fair in this sense.

If you only know how much he's asking, you'll know how greedy he is. Yes, I know how much he asked in the last failed deal with ABS-CBN before. It was so huge and ABS-CBN said no. That's why he transferred to GMA 7, because the price was right.

Well let us just see how things will go with them. There seems to be a legal battle going on with him and I just hope he could concentrate on his fight this time with this legal battle going on with this very abrupt decision.

Hi rakittera! When the fight for Hatton was still in negotiation table, and the prize percentage was being disputed (60/40, 55/45 and eventually 52/48) I was made to believed that Manny was demanding a higher percentage because of principle, being a much popular and crowd drawer boxer than Hatton as told by some reputable media personnel. The recently turned of events have made me to think about this. In the report of Ms. Beth Celis, the giant network (which is ABS CBN) had offered something that cannot be resist by Manny, a full media support in his political ambition. A 30 second campaign commercial would definitely make a big difference in case Manny decided to run for congressional seat in Saranggani. Serving people without using your own money (taxpayer's money) would really spell a difference. Sometimes it is really very easy to show your spirituality with gesture and words than making a Christ like living and behavior. Anyway when the fight with Hatton comes this May, I will still root for our national boxing hero. "Go on MONEY, beat up Hatton", oops I mean Manny. Have a nice day!

Like any other sports superstars , Manny Pacquiao too, has the right to price himself. Boxing is his job and he deserves a bigger payday. Manny Pacquiao, GMA and ABS-CBN are all about business. That's how it works. In fact, we should at least be glad that Manny Pacquiao is dedicating all his fights for us. Kobe Bryant is worth multi million(s) but did you hear him say "This is for America, i will beat the Cavaliers". Afterall, a sum of Manny Pacquiao's money goes to the people in a form of tax. That's not including his charity works. No offense but please let's reconsider our point of view about him.

Modstar, if you were in the same negotiating room, you'd probably think less of Manny. Believe me, he's not all the hero that he projects to be. Yes, it is about business for him, but he must also understand that the networks are getting him to earn, but with the price he's asking, it is too high that the network would not be able to get back what they paid Manny. Networks, especially members of KBP are only given 18 minutes of commercials for an hour-long show. If you know the price of one 30-seconder commercial, and if you know the amount Manny is asking, you'll find out that Manny is asking too much and the network will not earn much or will not earn at all. Lugi pa nga.

Well, whoever gives the highest offer will get the right to handle any famous celebrity. And Manny Pacquiao is not just a sportsman but also a celebrity. I watched mostly Kapuso shows but I admit that Kapamilya is much better when it comes to promotions and publicity.

Better coverage of fights too! Pre and post fight specials. Real time events. Few minutes delay compared to GMA's hour(s) delay of fight night. Less commercials. 3 National anthems and round one then commercials as compared to GMA's commercial breaks for every nation's national anthem.

Exactly! Money matters all the time specially for people like Manny. He is becoming greedy I guess. Imagine, he even aspired to become a politician. Well, what can he contribute? Pardon me when I ask, does he have enough knowledge about politics, economy and other related issues of the country. I don't think so. He can't even straighten his tongue to give a grammatically correct sentence in English.

Manny has the right to choose for he is star today. He will not be forever star that's why he would took advantage of his popularity. The more popular a person is the more cost of money. With regards to his decision. I think there would be a problem. HE didn't finished his contract with solar and gma. But I think he will win his case. He has connection and money, right.

Hey, I heard it in the news yesterday that manny the pacman pacquiao is going back to abs-cbn(kapamilya's), it only show that abs-cbn's coverage is way better than the other network no offense to the other network. I must agree with manny pacquio decision abs really promotes the manny's fight very well. Im just sad what will happen to the other networks rating when the day of the fight comes. When money talks their are no more questions asked, I myself is a certified kapamilya's way to go all the kapamilya's out their. And we all hoped that manny will bring home the bacon at the end of the fight. GO! go ! manny all the filipino people are praying for you.

i'm not very much a fan of those celebrities that doesn't show loyalty and those who decides just for the cash, i used to like him, especially when he moved to GMA, no offense meant but i think GMA network is more real and they're not so dramatic with their programming, they don't emphasize too much just to gain subscriptions and viewers. so now that he's coming back to them, i like him lesser than i used to. he just showed his true colors, as you say, he's just another businessman who works for the money.. although he's got so much, i think he's still not contented...SMILE! MAI

I think that sounds the same.. MANNY and MONEY right? The two will go on together. And for now he isn't really back as a kapamilya. I think he is just playing hard to get for ABS-CBN. But anyways Hope he will bring Hatton down and make Filipinos proud once again. I dont care if he is greedy or not, that is his own problem with his God.

Sigh! Manny was never a good actor. Yes, when it comes to boxing, he is the champion; no one can beat him. Leave showbiz to real actors okay.

Good day... In today's greedy environment it's a needle in a hay stock to find someone who is a hero. A hero in principle and in deed. Today money rules and principle drools. I really don't care much what networks aired the show or How much was offered, what alarms me is Manny's way of handling himself regarding his double contracts, his gamblings and his focus on getting more richer. I guess I would be hypocrite to say that I wouldn't do what he's doing if I'm in his position but I am better than him in one aspect. I won't dream running in a public office if I have his attitude.

Hi! It's a bit natural in the industry. It is just like a regular job. If other company offers a person a higher pay, most probably that person will accept it. But, I noticed that promotions of Pacquiao's fight with ABS-CBn was better compared with that of GMA. Usually, the day before the fight of Pacquiao, there are already lots of programs that tackles about the fight. just an opinion. take care

Oh I guess it's just the way entertainment industry revolves. Whenever they don't have great deal with a certain network they can just transfer to another right away. And we can not stop them because it's their decision for themselves. I think ABS-CBN offered Manny a deal much more than GMA 7 offered.

He's really dumb. He has a live contract with GMA 7 and Solar Sports which will expire on May 2011. Solar Sports is about to sue him and ABS CBN. They threat Pacquiao that they will bring to the court and will try to stop the showing of Pacquiao-Hatton here in the Philippines. The victim of this dumb action is us, Filipinos. Not him.. First, he signed 2 contracts from rival boxing promotions (Top Rank and Golden Boy), well he escaped it and the 2 promotions decided to co-promote his bouts but I doubt if he can escape this new one.. He brought honor to our country as he always says but he himself cannot even honor a contract.. Such a stupid move..

Well, welcome back! That's the point! I am so glad the kapamilya was able to bid bigger than the others. One thing is for sure, it is an achievement. Let us paint the town red!
