Adam did Burning Ring of Fire Last night on American Idol. Which is a Johnny Cash song, and it was of course country week. Adam did a completely different version of the song, which was not country at all. Paula, Kerry, and Randy thought it was neat. Simon said it was bad (I foget the exact word he used). I thought it was kind of creepy cool. It was a bit bizarre, but at the same time it was genious and he hit some really crazy but really cool notes.
So what did you think of Adam last night?

It was different..But he did manage to make that song his own. and like he even said he will never be a country singer. He stayed true to who he is, and i think he did a good job with it even though i do not listen to that type of music, I think that he is one of the ones that is going to make it to the top 5 anyway. He is comfortable on stage, and he is also comfortable with who he is. He also has a very good singing voice.

i honestly felt like a giant python is gonna crawl out anytime, like a really mean one, and it will slither around the center stage and goes to adam and crawls its way up to adam's shoulder... i'm not sure if someone else has thought of that... but that kind of song takes the light from me... it wasn't horrible like bad singing, but kids are watching, this is, as kara said, a family show...

LOL, yes I have to agree. I was telling my husband it was like he was singing in a musical and he was playing the part of the devil. I expect snakes and dancing girls to be reaching up at him through fire and smoke. It was kind of bizarre and kind of cool all at the same time. You got admit the guy is entertaining.

I thought that song was pretty weird, bordering on scary. He sounded like the three witches from macbeth.

I like Adam since he is really unique and I can't imagine him singing a traditional country song. I think I've a heard someone sang Burning Ring of Fire in Rockstar Supernova, I believe it was Dilana and it is in rock style (I'm not really sure though). Still Adam's version is different most specially since the key has been definitely higher. I like it since it suits him and showcase his personality.

I like Adam, but I was not at all impressed with the song he did. I found it to be a little freaky, but if you think about it, he himself is a little freaky and I think that is what so many people like about him.

I think the song was interesitng. It was something differnt. I like Adam. I think he is a good andogrynous kind of guy. I think that there are some really good peformers on Idol. I guess that there are some people that are willing to take chances with their music and he is one.

Ladym,
It was a strange night on AI because of the 11 finalists only one could truely be labeled "country" and that is Michael. Saddly, Michael,IMO, did the worst. He chose a song that will always be a hard one to sing and then didn't sing it very well. He would have been better suited for several other Garth songs like The Dance or If Tomorrow Never Comes. On to Adam;
Although I am not a die-hard Adam fan like my wife is, I do have to give credit where it is due and for originality, Adam takes the prize! I don't believe anyone could make a case of him not making a song his own. Even though I didn't particularly care for his rendition, what he did he did quite well. Over the top? Sure, but that's what the judges raved about last week, his over the top rendition of the Michael Jackson song.

I think Adam can make anything sound awesome. I thought that it was cool what he did with "Ring of Fire," but that he could've picked a song in true country style and still have sounded good. He's so theatrical and mesmerizing that I think he would be a perfect fit for Broadway. I agree with you that last night's performance was a bit bizarre, but very cool!

I totally enjoyed his performance. It was different to say the least but sung with a great voice. Isnt that what american idol is all about? Being able to make a song your own and still sing well. Well he did both with that truely original version of Ring of FIre and his wonderfully magnificent voice! He is the total package

I just watched the replay now and well, it was.. err, kind'a strange. Personally, I didn't like it at all. I've never really liked the somewhat theatrical performance of Adam, in general. It is over-indulgent and exaggerated.
Well anyway, it's just a personal preference.. I can't imagine him singing a song with true country arrangement, anyway.

I don't get Adam at all...but looks like the American audience is so into him.I don't like his kind of music...
He has a great voice...He can really hit high notes without me wondering..is he going to reach it or not...
I agree with kerry... it was strange alright...
and I totally agree with Simon.. it was atrocious! :)
