I was wondering how many of you out there regularly clip coupons to save money on things such as groceries, baby supplies, personal hygiene, dinner out, etc. If so, what was one of your biggest savings. Any hints for those of us trying to save money and be more frugal?

i am pretty frugal but i seldom clip coupons. heres why: i often find that the store brand is much cheaper than the name brand even with a cents off coupon, so i tend to buy the store brand, unless i have a really good coupon like a dollar off or whatever.

Thanks for replying. It's always good to get other people's opinions. Yes, sometimes a person uses a coupon for a brand that costs much more than generic or store brand and ends up spending more using the coupon.

I used to get coupons and cut them out my mom had subscrioption to a newspaper and you got Sunday coupons but not that the paper is mailed to her she no longer gets the sets of coupons I use to get the coupons from her. I liked that ones that were around $1 off don't see to many of those anymore though.

I personally don't clip coupons but My fiance's mother does, and I find that it helps save just a little bit. My fiance and I are doing our own part by trying to eat less of what we enjoy. We also need to eat healthier so I've noticed we've been eating less + eating healthier, which keeps some of the food that's in the fridge and freezers there. There are many sites that have great deals on coupons, and even frugal sites. A great member here as often referred me to stretcher.com , a dollar stretcher site. Making your own detergent helps (I've read), and making a list of things you are out of / nearly out of as well as making a list of things you need and combining them with meal ideas / coupons can help. Of course not going to the store on an empty stomach and passing by those so tempting fast food restaurants helps too. Some of these ideas I've found online, in fact most if not all of them are ideas i've found online. Subscibe to a few frugal newsletters, I have, and to date have only received one (but I subscibed the other day)... but am anticipating all the ideas I will find within.

There is still a lot I could do to eat healthier though, lol, so I'm far from a role model for healthy eating. Hope you like the site I provided. Happy Frugality!

Good to hear from you.
Also good for you for eating less and eating healthier (something I should be doing). I will have to check out the website you mentioned.
Good luck saving!

Thanks for your reply. Using coupons sure helps and sure makes a difference. I find it takes longer to do the grocery shopping when using a lot of coupons, but you can save a lot of money by using them. It would be nice if they did start offering more coupons for you. Have a great week.

Good for you. I'm glad you can save a lot using the coupons. The money might as well be in your pockets rather than the big companies. I agree. Hurray for coupons. Wish we could access more of them.
