hello pinoys, how are you guys?
I know that all of us knew that this coming 2010 election will be a fully automated one. This would be the first time that the Philippines will use this way.
This system is used n the US, and this is very fast. In a day we can determine who are the winners, not like the manual.
But, there are also some who doesn't like this system. It is because that there is no assurance of other politician not to be cheated.
How about you guys? In your own opinion, what is your thoughts and views in this system that we are about to use this coming 2010 Presidential Election?

I think it is a good idea to automate election. But somehow, I am doubtful if it will be well implemented because of time-constraints and the intentions of the people pushing the automation. I realized that the automated voting system in the congress took a long time to be implemented, what more to automate the election with a bigger scope.

Oh? So its really automated next year huh? thats a bit of a progress. Less possibility of corruption and vote buying. Still I think it makes everything easier for those who really want to win. They just need to hire someone from the office to alter the results and no one would notice since there are only a few people who truly understand computers so there would be any questions. Though Id love for it to be very transparent that there is a live online feed of the votes. So real people can check in the actual progress themselves. Now that proposition really doesnt leave room for any anomaly. Unless they corrupt the system software itself.tsk3

Well, I have mixed feelings about this new system. I feel that this would really speed up the election process and would somehow eliminate some problems in our voting system. I also feel that this method would usher in a new era of cheating as it could make hackers rich beyond their wildest dreams. Just my 2 cents.

Having an automated will definitely give a smoother election process, faster results but does not really guarantee a clean election. If politicians will want to really win, they will find a way to win the elections no matter if it is the same old election process or automated.
Might take a lot more effort to get through at first but automated elections will benefit us all in the end.

I guess the only way to find out which one is better is for us to experience both first. I know that US is a far more advance country than the Philippines and we are nothing compared to them. But in terms of doing an automated election, I think there is nothing wrong is following them and implementing their ways here in our country. For a very long time we have been using manual system in election when we count votes and it takes a month or more before we finally know the winners. I think it is better if we try something new before we judge it. Besides the government must spend our taxes wisely and they should not corrupt the money we are paying so it is better to use it in an automated election. It has been proven over and over that politicians do "magics" in the number of their votes just to win. That has been a long long time ago sickness of our society. We can never assure that if we use automated election there will be no more cheaters. But the main point is we should in order to know which of the two system (manual or automated) will work better in this country is to try the other one. I no longer trust the government since I learned how to analyze things but I would rather choose a system that is less evil if all the choices are all evil. It is time for a good change and that is to do what is more advance during elections: use of computers. We should try everything in order if we don't want to be left behind.

Hi hindichinese! I just couldn't give so much faith in our electoral process. For so many times, there has always been cheating and bribery. It is a sad and terrible thing happening in our electoral system. I really want to trust the Comelec but I don't think I can at this time.
Take care and blessings to you!

I think automated election will be a great one, though we still cannot guarantee the fact that there will be no disadvantages on using it.
Of course, we just only hope for the best. I hope this will be a good start for clean elections in our country.

I like automated election because the result is much faster and cheating could be avoided. There is just a need for a real neat execution to avoid glitch which could result to cheating.

Automation in itself would be a good thing for the Philippines. What bothers me most is HOW the machines are acquired. The bidding process for them (or any other government bidding process here, for that matter) is always a tad shady. Which is why we, the taxpayers, always end up as the losers. Heard the computers that DepEd gave away to public schools on the news lately? Almost all of them are defective (I even saw one cable filled with rust), yet they spent millions of pesos in its acquisition. I bet the computers were purchased through a bidder. This is our biggest problem. Blatant, rampant corruption. If they corrupt even the education sector which helps our youth get the education that they need, what's to stop them from NOT corrupting the funds used in purchasing machines for the election? I don't know man. Our country is seriously whacked up.

There is a saying that there is no harm in trying... Automated on not cheaters are everywhere. There's nothing we can do about that. Getting automated is one way of making our lives more comfortable and we have to face the fact and be it.

Hello there, i want to ask if this automated voting system has been tested already? Is there a proof that this will generate 100% validity and the uniqueness of voters? Will there be flying voters again be allowed if this machine has to be used?
I don't have an idea actually about this voting machine, but if this will be the case to be implemented during the 2010 Presidential elections, then i guess it has to be fully guarded .
But still i am doubtful of what will happen in this coming 2010 elections. We all know that Politics is really dirty and we the citizens will be doing our part, now how about candidates buying votes? hmmm, a lot of issues actually, but let's pray for the best. Happy Mylotting!

The automation of our elections is actually a welcome change. I think this will serve us better and thwart threats of cheating. I just hope that the machines will work perfectly as well and the acquisition would not be shadowed with another set of kickbacks.

Well if they will adopt the US system then I say we should adopt it as soon as possible. I think the erring politicians are the ones that would worry about having this system in place. What worries me is the acquisition of the machines. I hope the acquisition would be as clean as this is the only part that has stopped the development of this system in place.
