I'm just curious as to how many of you live in Pennsylvania right now and where exactly you're from? Do you like the area you're currently in? I'm currently in State College, PA - which is centre county. I love it here. A lot more than small town Pennsylvania I grew up in! There is so much more to do here.

I live in Johnstown, PA ( Flood city). Have you ever been here. I lived here all my life, there's not much to do here, we visit the flood museum probably once a year, and we have the inclined plane, but I think our main attractions are Thunder in the Valley and the Folkfest every year they seem to draw quite a bit of visitors.

I was also born and raised in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh to be exact. There are times where I want to leave Pittsburgh to live somewhere else, but I can't. Pittsburgh is where my home is =).

I currently live in Oxford, Pa in southern Chester County. It's right on the Maryland border near Delaware. Small town, Amish country. I have also lived in Pottstown, Upper Darby, and North Coventry Township.
I love living rurally, especially in Pa. The landscape here is beautiful. We have mountains, forests, waterfalls, canyons, rivers, hills, farmland, historical sites, a variety of wildlife, and more.
In my opinion Pennsylvania is one of the most beautiful states in the country!

I don't live in Pennsylvania but I've visited friends there... best I could do with your question *grin* Back in 2000, I went to Allentown (Le High?). While I was there, there was a snowstorm and the town was all up in arms... schools closed, businesses closed, everything. It was quite something for me to see because I live in Canada and I'm used to a LOT of snow. It was really different to see a town shut down for an amount of snow that we barely bat an eye about :) Was a nice place, far as I remember. The people were friendly, most certainly.

That's funny! It sounds like how we describe the southern US states!! They get a few snowflakes and close down the town. I feel like it takes a good bit for us to shut down. Then again if you're from Canada - I guess our policy would make you laugh! lol

It definitely felt odd... because, here, nothing ever fully shuts down - except for the ice storm we had about 10 years ago... that was AWFUL. I was rural at the time and had no power or running water for 16 days. Actually, though, rural folks tend to fare better during those times as they more often have wood stoves, wood supplies, access to spring water, generators (and nearby farms with HUGE generators). Anyway, except for that storm, I can't remember ever having more than school closures for the kids. Adults are still expected at work, often spending 3 hours or more to do a trip they can normally do in 30 mins - 1 hour. So, when everything closed down in Allentown, my first thought was, "Well.. um... what do you all DO now??" LOL

Hi Jennlk84 -
I do not currently live in Pennsylvania but I have a few times, actually! :) I was born just outside of Philadelphia in a town called Lima. We only lived there for about a year so I do not remember anything about that area of course. LoL! I don't have THAT good of a memory! ;) Later on in life, we lived outside of Pittsburgh in a place called Upper St. Clair. I really liked it a lot. We were there for about 2 & 1/2 years while I was in 4th - 6th grades. I have a lot of fond memories of that area. As an adult, I lived in Bensalem & also in Devon, PA. Loved them both. I'd move back to PA in a heartbeat! What is State College near? Hope you have a wonderful weekend & that the weather up there behaves for you this weekend. :)

I'm in Oxford, right on the Maryland border, in Amish country. Love the small town life. No traffic, tranquility, nature, all good.

I live in Washington now but I did move back to PA for about 18 months. Lived there all of 2003 up thru the end of March '04. I lived in Wind Gap which is between Allentown and Stroudsburg. It's a beautiful state but I missed WA.

I live in Pennsylvania, have all my life and probably always will. The town I live in is also small maybe about 2000 of us. There isn't alot here or much more to do but I actually like it that way. I have been to the bigger cities and I hate it. It is just to busy, packed and fast paced for me. I like my slow small town living. And to be honest I wish it were smaller. If I could find a town of about 500 I would be happy.
We are located probably about 45 minutes south of Erie and about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh. Or atleast that is what my husband is telling me LOL I am terrible at directions.
We have said before that if we could find a small country town of about like I said 500 or less, be able to only go to town like once a month for food and supplies and just live in the middle of nowhere we would be happy. Living the life of a hermit.
