I love the taste but sometimes some people haven't gotten the trick in cooking it so that it won't be as hard as rubber.
But I can definitely distinguish octopus from squid.
The usual way of doing it here in the Philippines is "ADOBO" type. With soy sauce, spices and a bit of vinegar. Yum!
To make it soft, according to a friend who claims to be expert about it, water must be boiled first. Once, it's boiling hot, that's the time to add the octopus in.

Yes, I love to eat octopus. I actually know how to cook it. It is also a famous dish here in the Philippines. We cook it like how we cook squid. It can be cooked, fried, adobo (with vinegar and soy sauce), or grilled. The only thing that I don't like about octopus is that if you grilled it it became so gummy that you have to chew it for several minutes before you can swallow it. IT is like you're eating a bubble gum. LOL! But, yes, it really taste so good. It is high in protein and low in fat. It is good for dieters like me.

I have tried eating octopus by accident. It was cooked in soy sauce, pepper, garlic and salt. It's locally known as "Adobo". At first i thought it was squid. Eventhough after i learned from my friend that it's octopus, i didn't hesitate to grab another serving because like you said, it's yummy!

Octopus, who are living in the deep sea and look like so ugly, always act in the horro movies, using its dishes and killing people.
For similar with the squid,im often confused to distinguish them, and we like eating them, cooking and good taste.
It is a traditional chinese cooking.:-)
