How can a contestant possibly "Save" him/ herself?

Seems a little senseless that the contestant sings the same song that was trashed only 24 hours earlier. Not much of an opportunity to impress the judges. The judges aren't likely to suddenly rave about a song choice, they condemned just the night before...are they? Suggestion: Why not let the contestant at least choose the song that will determine their ultimate fate? Or allow the contestant to sing Acappella whatever they want (from their own repertoire) for let's say 2 minutes?

Hi there! Well I agree that it is really kind of a silly and rather cruel rule that they came up with, and frankly, I hope they do away woth it entirly next year. Your idea is a good one, though. Why should they sing the song that obviously was not good enough the night before? It makes no sense! I don't think Alexis had a chance in hell of being saved last night, and it was cruel of them to drag it and us out for another few minutes. The only people that they would save this year are Danny or Adam, if they had a REALLY bad wee, and they didn't get enough votes. This rule is just the producers way of stacking the odds so that they make money on whoever wins, in my opinion. I think it should go. Don't you?

You make a good point about where they might use the save. I agree it should go .....or at least give the contestants a legitimate chance to showcase their talents. Maybe each contestant could have a personal favorite song prepared for their elimination night (rather than having to sing the same song that hurt them).

I thought the same thing last night when I was watching. She didn't impress the judges the night before, so what would make her impress them now. I guess maybe they are saying that say Danny was voted out, he would sing his same song and of course he would be saved because he was awesome with Jesus Take The Wheel.

I just feel the process must have been frustrating for Alexis Grace. Here she is supposedly given an "opportunity" to redeem herself ....with the only tool at her disposal... the poor song choice, from the night before! Like being given another chance to put a square peg in a round hole ...with the same square peg you used on your first attempt.

I tend to agree with you on this one. It has to be terribly hard to stand up there in front of millions of people and sing the same song you've been told was terrible again, knowing that your fate is already sealed. There's no way the judges are going to use their "save" this early in the season. They'll save it for a more crucial decision down the line. However, I felt sorry for Alexis. Even though show business is tough on people, I think they could do something on the show to make things a little more gentle. In fact, I really don't like the way most reality shows treat people.

I agree it looks like they could choose another song besides singing the same one. It would proberly give them a better chance of being saved.

I agree it is senseless to have them sing for it. The judges are going to pick who they want to pick to be saved. Their decision is more than likely all ready going to be made up once they find out who had the lowest votes. They are only going to choose a person to be saved who they believe will sell records. They are going to save that one person whose getting the lowest votes is a total fluke.

I believe Alexis got the short end of the stick. But I agree with the save this season. It seems dumb to have them sing the same song that ultimately got no votes. But what if the judges really liked it and heard something that just everyday people, which are probably mostly teenagers, voting didn't. I thought Alexis sounded good it just was not a good song choice for her. I think she deserved a second chance and the decision should not have been based off her singing again. They already had said that it wasn't a good song for her and how could you expect her to sing better before after she was just told she's going home and she's trying not to cry. The judges know she has an incredible voice and should have made it further than Michael Stover. But we don't make the rules and even though I may not fully agree with the way the "save" is being implimented, I agree the judges should have a chance to save someone. I actually said in the beginning of the season and in early post on mylot that I thought the judges should have a say so in who goes home to keep the wrong person from leaving too early.

ryan seacrest keeps asking, if they will rearrange a song the judges butchered... so maybe if the contestant knows they are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E they need to get back to the music director and practice the whole night...

totally agreeand really do not like the new level of drama, that seems much ado about nothing. They are not going to use it until week 5 as a bet. I could see them using it for lil or danny because they seem to be judges favorites.

I totally agree with you about them singing the same sing. I dont like the whole "wild sit" or "save" thing they are doing this year. Its crazy. When the watching audience votes you off I dont think you should be saved or put in the wild sit to come back. That is bull crap. I think if we voted them off then they need to go. But they are doing it different this year, so whatever. But I agree if they are going to try and be saved dont sing the same boring song you sang the night before.
