There are several people I know, who do not like to wear second hand shoes. LOL.. one of them is my hubby. Even if it is slightly used and branded if he doesn't know the owner? he will never wear it. He presume that the owner is already dead or has a foot disease of something? hahahaha he is thinking too much negative about it. But me? I don;t care, I will wear it as long as I like it and my feet is comfortable with it. What about you? just curious to hear your story.

I don't blame your husband, you just don't know what sort of bacteria is in there. I don't buy 2nd hand stuffs for personal use, I just don't think it's hygienic(that's just me).

Ha!ha!ha!ha! Your hubby is like me. I also don't like second hand shoes and I have the same reasons. Ha!ha!ha! I want my shoes to be used by no one but me. I don't like to end up having some foot disease. However, if I know the person who first used the shoes, then it is okay. But those bought from the thrift shops...I really can't muster to use. But my hubby is like you, he would wear second hands for as long as they are branded.

Correct my friend!!! As long as it is branded and it looks new? I will wear it even if it is second hand.. I don't care? hahaha... I don;t want to spend big amount of money just for shoes? there are people who will spend thousands just for shoes? no way for me.. I can't do that even if I have the money to buy I will not spend that amount just for shoes.. but hubby said, it is better to spend in high quality shoes even if it is too much because he can use it for many years... He has shoes that lasted for 5-6 years.. No way.. I don;t like to have shoes that last that long because I felt bored of seeing them all the time.. I want different kinds and different colors.. hahahah even if it is second hand...as long as it is branded and looks new? I would love to have it. And I will get rid of them in less than a year. I', giving it away to friends and families who would like it.

Hello Bebs08! I used to buy second hand shoes in "ukay2x" especially when I was in college but not now. It's just that I don't like the quality. After one use, it looked old.
Your husband has a point. We never really know who owned that shoes and who knows, the owner got smelly feet..hehehe

I will wear second hand shoes but I should know the owner. I have some second hand shoes that my aunt gave me and I love it.[/i]

I don't like to wear second hand shoes. I don't even like to wear my father's or brother's Footwear. In fact I don't wear anything second hand.

Shoes are one of the few things that I won't wear second hand. Bad feet run in my family, so it was pounded into my head from an early age that second hand shoes were not good for the feet. Shoes take on the form of the person who had worn them previously, and that may not be the same as your foot. I am not sure I really worry about that, but some of those childhood things just don't go away easily!

Yes I do, wear second-hand or used shoes as long as they are still very good. I bought some from thrift stores and not only used shoes but also some used stuffs that I found still very good and useful because they are cheaper. I guess we share the same type of hubby; mine too never wears anything used or buy anything from the thrift stores and Good will. I am also very curious of the brands as I can see that there are really nice and branded shoes that are still nice, only they are used but I have no problem w/ that.

hahah that's cute!!! but I don;t care if who owns it as long as it looks new and the brand is really good and in high quality. am sure i can not afford to buy a brand new pair of shoes in good quality? I mean I will not spend a lot of money for shoes...even if it is in high quality... and to buy second hand is an opportunity.. Lol..

There is a shop in our town which offers shoes at cheap price. The shop will be full of customers every time, day, morning, evening whatever time you go, you will never find it quite and empty. The shoes which they sell lasts for 2 years or so and are cheap compared to other branded ones. So, I like them a lot.
This makes me not liking second hand shoes because when a pair of shoe has been bought from that shop then it won't last long, you know!

I don't wear second-hand shoes for two reasons. First of all foot fungus is impossible to detect and very contagious and secondly if someone else has worn the shoes for any amount of time the shoe tends to mold to their feet. Especially young children I don't think should wear second-hand shoes because their feet are still forming.

I'm like your hubby. I too will not wear second hand shoes from stores like ebay or garage sale for hygienic purposes. I will however wear or borrow shoes from some member of the family if I need to which is a little impossible because I own too many shoes. lol

I agree with galena. I am not thinking of buying shoes for a status symbol? I am buying it for the comfort of my feet. and who would ask you who owns your shoes? hahaha no body would notice that it is second hand unless you will tell people about it. Besides, in our economy today, it is very hard to own shoes that you said, status symbol because they are too expensive when it is new.. for me i don;t care if it is second hand as long as my feet is comfortable with it.

I wear second hand shoes given by my sisters. We have the same shoe sizes. I once bought a second Reebok tennis shoes and it was very durable. i bought it for a very minimal price and I used it for two years.

Hi, Bebs08! Yes, I do like wearing second hand shoes. I have worn them in the past. Just as long as the shoe is in pretty good condition and it is clean, I will wear them. I also make sure that they are comfortable and safe for me to wear. Any new or second hand shoe that looks weak and torn up, I not wear.

I haven't tried wearing any hand me down shoes. Usually a buy a new pair of shoes for myself. When I go to the second hand store i haven't tried buying shoes or any footwear. I always feel comfortable having my own pair. I don't even borrow any footwear from other people even my friends. I am no just comfy about it. Nice topic. I think I am one of the few like your husband who is not comfy.

Yes, I enjoy wearing second hand shoes. I like that I don't have to spend a lot of money on them. Some disinfectant spray, foot powder, and a good washing are a must before I wear them though.
I don't buy second hand shoes for my kids though. I'd rather have them break in a a new pair so it is formed to their feet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It is just my personal choice.
There have been times that I have bought second hand shoes and then after wearing them a little while, they were a little uncomfortable. As we walk our shoes kind of mold to our feet. A new user may find this a little uncomfortable. Usually I am perfectly happy with my second hand shoes.
My kids are a bit young. They may not be able to tell me that their shoes are uncomfortable. So, I buy them new shoes so I don't have to worry whether or not they are comfortable for their feet.
If they were a little older and more capable of expressing such things it wouldn't be an issue.

No, I don't like wear second hand shoes because I dont know what was the last person worn the shoes and what disease(like what your husband said :-p) he/she had. I don't want to get my foot into trouble. And I think second hand shoes always look so old so I won't even bother look at them.
