Do you have any flu bugs going around where you are?

Down here in my area of south Florida we have two different variations of the flu going around and they're both taking turns hitting different members of our family. We have the stuffy head, chest and fever flu and we also have the stomach flu, too! My husband was hit by that one two days ago and he's only now feeling well enough to leave the house. My daughter and one of my grandsons have been dealing with the stuffy head & chest one, which in my opinion is nastier, because it lasts longer.
So, what about you? Is the bug visiting your area and making folks miserable?

It's said to be very bad here in Ohio and in my county but it hasn't affected me. I haven't had the flu in about 18 years! Never had a flu shot, either. I think I'm one of the lucky ones who is resistant to most strains, because I've been around a lot of people with the flu and it hasn't bothered me.

I know a lot of people that say that. The theory behind the injections is good but I really don't think they're very effective. I'm also suspicious of what's really in those shots--yes, I'm paranoid! Anything coming from the government is suspect, in my mind.
Stay well and healthy!

I normally don't catch these bugs either (knock on LOTS of wood) and I don't get a flu shot either. I don't know if it was a fluke or not but a friend of mine in Maryland used to get the shot every year and then she'd get the flu almost right after. She insisted that it would have been worse if she hadn't gotten the shot but I think the shot is what made her sick.

I have not had it, but my sons and my daughter-in-law, my granddaughter plus my younger son's fiance have had it. My husband and I got the flu shots, I do not want to get the flu because I am a horrible person to live with if I got sick. And it has been quite bad with my friends. Most of the children were out of school because of the flu in our school here in Winnipeg, Manitoba and it seems to have lingered on a little more then usual.

Hi, spalladino! I am sure that it is going around as of now in South Carolina. My hubbie had the flu about two weeks ago. He was so sick, he could not do anything for himself! So, yes it may be still going around here. I don't know that many people that may have it as of now. But, I do know that it could very well be going around. Having the flu is the pits! I hate to be sick and I hate to see others sick as well! I would not be surpried if someone has it bad in South Carolina let alone anywhere else.. I hope that you all will feel better really soon! Take care of yourself!

Thanks cream, I hope you guys remain flu free up there. Down here folks are blaming it on the snow birds but they've been here since Oct/Nov so I don't blame it on anyone. It's a natural thing and, if you have a kid in school, you might as well prepare for someone to be sick sooner or later.

Our flu season is about over. We get it usually really bad right around the holidays. After that we get a hard freeze and it kills or at least knocks down the viruses. Hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

Thanks Zeph! That's one bad thing about living so far south...no hard freezes to kill these nasty bugs. We get a few cold fronts that sink down from the north and I think they bring the flu bugs with them.

I'm glad you recovered quickly! I also drink a lot of water, try to eat right and take vitamins so I'm hoping that I don't catch either one of these bugs.

To tell u the truth,, I rather take fruits,, as a habit,, than to take any medicine,, I don't even look for the vitamins,, REALLY,, once I see the food is off the pot,, and I need to eat,, I will, before it gets cold,,I know its safer ,, in this way I don't suffer every time a flu is in the area,,

There is a stomach bug going around my family here in New York!!! And its not just 24 hour bug.. Mine lasted about a week. And it was passed to everyone in my family. Hopefully it doesnt come back around for a long time. What a miserable feeling.. My friend lives in Georgia and the flu has hit everyone in her family as well. I guess every area has there own problems

Wow, your bug sounds much nastier than the stomach one we have here! I hope that monster doesn't come back for a long time either!

I talked to my Dad in Missouri today and he and his lady have both had a severe case of the stomach flu. They've been sick about a week now. I haven't heard of any flu going around here in south Texas, but I do know today I felt pretty sick to my stomach and my chest feels congested. This isn't a good thing since I have breathing issues. I'll have to try not and let it get too bad. Hope your family feels better soon.

Yeah there is some kind of bug going around where I live and both me and my girlfriend have been sick in the past couple of days. I think we got colds though and not flus but still either way they're not all that fun. Winter seems to be kind of coming to a close here though so hopefully we won't really have to worry about being sick for too much longer.

So far so good, but I won't say that too loud, don't want to let it hear that it hasn't hit us yet. I really hate getting sick. So hopefully it will just steer clear.
Hope you all feel better real soon.
Hugs MaryLynn

It's rough when you're the first one to catch a bug because then you feel responsible for passing it around. My grandson told him mom that he was sorry for giving her his flu and she had to explain to him that it wasn't his fault. I hope everyone in your family feels better soon, too!

We have it here. I had it a few weeks ago and it lasted about 2 weeks for me. It was horrible! My head hurt so much. My daughter has it off and on now and she has had it for about 2-3 weeks now. it doesnt seem as bad for her. My 7 year old son started complaining about his stomach hurting while he was at school yesterday and last night he was complaining he didnt feel good. Luckily my husband hasnt gotten it. He doesnt get sick too often. Some of our neighbors around here have it now.

The flu is running rampant here in the Northeast, even in early spring. I am shocked by how many people I know have it. I went to a wedding this past weekend and 24 people at the wedding (including myself) came down with the flu. I haven't been this sick in a while and I am just starting to get over it now.
