How do you feel about such a serious and sacred position appearing on a late nighy show? Do you think it is communicating to the American people that the presidency and the government is a joke or not taking their job seriously? Or do you think it is good that the president is "reaching out" to the common audience on a different level, allowing the people to see him as just another American citizen? I'm very torn about this.

i think it is fine for him to be on there. i think he is trying to show people that he's just an ordinary guy w/a big ol' job. him & his wife bot are trying to reach out & touch everyone,

I don't see it as a "sacred position" He is just a CEO who works for me. I don't care if he apears on Leno, Letterman or what ever. He is no doubt using this as a platform for the shepard to speak to and enthrall the sheep. I wwish I could get a bunch of people down to the studio though, good oportunity for the non-sheep to do a little speaking of their own.

I shouldn't have said "sacred position" My bad, I don't like it when people put a man on a pedistool but being the president he has a professional image to keep-he deals with some hardcore stuff and is known around the world. I want other countries to see our leader as serious, wise, smrt, and respect him. But is they see this, they may not take him seriously. Yet again, what does it matter what they think? Plus they don't understand our culture anyway so it really is only our business how our leaders behave.

I'm torn about this too! I don't really know what I think. In a way, i think it's down-to-earth of Obama to appear on the late show, but at the same time, doesn't he have better things to do? And what on earth would they discuss, other than serious issues? It might be insulting to some that Obama is having a good time on the late show, while in reality, there are a lot of issues that he could touch base with. *shrugs*. I didn't get to see it, so I'm not sure how it went down, but it seems kind of weird.
