Life without MUSIC???

Can you imagine your life without Music! I can't! Have you ever thought about how music affects your day to day life! The melancholy songs that make you serene! That song that gets stuck in your head the first thing in the morning? How music conjures up memories...both good and sad. It can transport you to a "sing & dance" mood! How moods affect the music you listen to...and music affects your mood? Do you have a song that truly makes you happy! I do! Just imagine, life without music....other than Mother Nature's?

Life without music is like a person without a soul.

Thank you for responding balasri....I am wondering, trying to guess where you live, as it is 3:29 a.m. here (where I live) and you responded 2 hours earlier..you must be a midnight owl, listening to some wonderful music! What a perfect analogy.....and so true! When I can't have my music, there is a real gap in my day! I think I would not like to give up my radio, if I had to give up all my modern conveniences! Cheers!

Nice to hear back from you balasri...and have noticed your # of posts! You are certainly a senior member here...congratulations! I live in Canada, off the West Coast of British Columbia, in the Southern Gulf Islands chain! Small island, 19 miles long & 5 miles wide at the widest point! We are accessible only by Ferry boat! Between the 48 & 49th parallel...so there is 5 hours time difference between Toronto and us...so, 19.5 hours difference between you & I. My son does a fair amount of Global travelling, China & Brazil in the last 4 months and his next destination is India, and he will not like the HUGE time difference, as China was 13.0 hours and (even tho' he is young) found it took a long time to have his body adjust to difference! Brazil wasn't so bad at 4 hours difference! Thank you for responding! Have a great weekend!

We do a lot of boat access camping here, and it is more common to eat oysters on the fire, as we have miss managed our Fisheries, and we would all go on a diet if we had to live on the fish we caught (that's Saltwater fish, salmon, cod, etc.,)! I am from the interior of B.C. where fresh-water fish still abound, and yes, there is nothing like a "pan-fried" Dolly Varden or Rainbow Trout, over the campfire, for breakfast....Lunch or Dinner for that matter! And we did just that last summer when we went to the interior! (When I say we, I mean my son, his fiance & myself)so, they learn some new tricks about camping from us old timer's too! LOL! Have a superlative weekend..my dear..and Cheeers!

well music sure brings happiness into our lives. It would be a strange life without music that is for sure. We have music on the internet, tv, movies, radio, piped in stores at christmas time, I love to hear the music then. Music in churches and synagogues, it would be just less joyful without music.

Yes, music is one of the few things that I don't mind interrupting the "sounds of silence." As I said, earlier in this discussion, it was being without it...and the weather so miserable outside (no birdies)...that the silence was almost eerie! And speaking of eerie...I truly noticed at that time, when the snow was coming down in buckets, how really silent it is outside! Hoping you are getting a hint of spring, our daffs are blooming but we should be getting below zero weather all this weekend! (We have set many COLD records for March already!) Cheers!

Yes I can I love silence sometimes and though I do appreciate music in the background while I am working I do appreciate silence most of the times. Since I am a moody person I dont mind having a mixture of both but having silence all the time might get boring. Right now I am listening to Abba;s Mamma mia because I had to "Dance" or at least I tried to at our school concert.

Hey, ronaldinu...so nice to have you back....missed you greatly! Yup..love "Abba"and they really are something you can dance to! Hope your concert was a huge success~~~~~and so nice to hear, you as a mentor, do not feel above the task! I am sure your students just loved you for it! I am very lucky, cause mostly silence surrounds me..other than Mother Nature, and sometimes noisy neighbours (which I can't turn off)...But I can turn "on" music, and I can "turn onto" music! Thank you for responding, and truly am glad to see you posting again! Cheers!

I couldn't imagine it. My life is surrounded by music. My b/f is a musician and plays music everyday. I couldn't imagine it but for him I guess it would take away who he was..literally.

Hey, JenInTn...would I be out of line, guessing that it might, just might be Country! Beat me with a guitar string if I am wrong! I grew up with Country, and it is my favourite, but do like lots of other genre's, so that is why I would miss it so much! My son had a great, great time in Nashville, he was just there over-night (during Katrina).....he even made it to the Hall of Fame! Tennesee (sp) is on my "bucket list"! Cheers!

Not at all out of line my friend! It is for the most part country! Old country though and not much of the stuff you hear on the radio. I hope you get to visit. Nashville certainly has a lot to offer the music lover.

Well, it'll sound redundant but no, I can't imagine life without music. Music is like a sedative and a stimulant for me....it can relax and sooth me or get me happy or excited. And, as a Christian who listens to a lot of Gospel and other types of Christian music, it ministers a lot to me and my problems. I've also seen how music brings people together so easily and can form bonds between people who, otherwise, would have never had a relationship.

Music truly is...A Goodwill Ambassador, isn't it! And it crosses all borders, boundaries, ethnicities & cultures~~and can join them all together! One of the few things in life enjoyed alone, or with others! Let me welcome you to myLot, noticed that you are new here...and sure hope that you will enjoy your time on this site. There truly are, a bunch of wonderful people from all over the world, and I have made some beautiful "cyber" world friends here, that I hope to meet in person one day! Have a truly wonderful weekend..and Thank You, for responding! Cheers!

HI pergammano, I am not much fan of music, I can live without it but I cannot live without football. Not with saying all this, I d l ike to have classical music or soft music when I am working. I think it makes our life better. More livelier. Right now I am singing WE are the Champions by the Queen. Because my local football team Birkirkara have won the championship (soccer)

Nice to hear from you, jesso7! What prompted this discussion, was a power outage, and usually I am totally prepared. battery operated radio, etc. Got my come uppance when I found the radio NOT working, only to discover the batteries were faulty and had leaked into my radio...rendering it useless! Boy, was that a long 17 hours, not even birdies to listen to, as the weather was so inclement! I don't know whether it's the old thing...want what you can't have/or? It just seemed so lonely...desolate, and made me appreciate those things we take for granted! Thank you...and have a great one! Cheers!
