Got first smear test

I have to get a cervical smear test done and I am very scared. I know it will be painful as I will be so tense.
Have any mylotters had a smear test recently, have you any tips how I calm down?
I realise how important the test is especially after reading about jade goody so I am definately going to get it done.

I believe that you are talking about what we call here in the US a pap test. It is a test for Cervical Cancer, Their is really nothing to it. and it was never painful for me. It is a part of my yearly exam. I think that i had my first one when i was 16. All they do is take a thing that looks like a long q-tip and swab the inside of your cervix with it. It can be embarrassing, and stressful for someone that has never had it done before. So just try to relax. It does not take very long, just a minute or two. Find a doctor that you are comfortable with to perform the test and you will should be alright.

Thanks for the advice. I was considering taking my ipod in to take my mind off it. I am 27 so I should have one done ages ago. I am glad I am eventually getting around to it I just hope it is normal.

Hello there Heartbreaker08, don't worry, relax and all you know the test is already done.
I never had any painful experience during Pap smear. A speculum is inserted into your flower (you know what i mean) and cervical cells are removed, using a spatula or swab and transferred to a glass slide before being sent for laboratory analysis.
This is just quick, it won't hurt you dear. Then you wait for days, depends on the lab if they do it quick, if the result is Negative, then that means you have no problem or you need not to worry.
Pap Smear is adviced to be taken once or twice a year only if you are sexually active. Since i am married, i took the test last year, and i thanked God it's ok. Happy Mylotting!
