What is the use of computer without internet?

When i joined engineering college and opted for computer science seriously saying i didn't know anything about computers except chatting at yahoo messenger.
But as time passes away i got an interest in computer world and start learning things from scratch but what i know today is not just because of a computer it is because i have internet connection with my PC. Otherwise to know a little i had to put a lot of effort but due to internet access i find easy to search any topics though google and learned a lot .
i came to know so many helpful sites , downloaded so many songs and books, video tutorials. Today everyone i guess know about torrents and all but can anyone utilize the pc in best manner without internet.
i can't live without internet because it is the internet through which i am discussing it with you. How i would get so many contacts and participation in so many educational forums without internet.
So in my opinion Internet is just like the sailor. If sailor is not there then boat is of no worth . In the same way without internet Computer is just a toy .

I am feeling the same way too when my internet does not work, what else should i do about it. But then my hubby installed some interesting games for me to play and i still appreciate computers even without internet connection.
But then again, if it comes to earning here online, of course i would be hypocrite if i say i still be happy without internet. No, having a computer without internet is like losing one important feature of a computer. It is still beneficial in this generation because we opt to do things a lot when we are online. Like paying bills online, shopping, chatting or talking to love ones who are far away from us and much more.
The only thing we can do for computers without internet connections are work or job thing which involves using MS office tools, Programming , Computer Games and some editing Photos using other photo editing tools. You can also do watch movies using your computer and of course, calculator for computing things. Happy mylotting!

Though internet is the main criteria in field of computers, there are lot works and applications that can be done without having the connectivity of internet.If we consider the desktop publishers, the internet is not essential one but if we have internet, that will be a major advantage to them.But in near feature, the internet connection will score more than the mobiles at present we are having.As with the internet, we are able to bring the whole world into our home, its gaining the popularity more and more.

I have a few programs that I do not need the internet for. I can write letters or books. I can make worksheets for home and community events. I can make calendars or keep track of important dates. I also use a program for tracking and recording the family tree. I can use the internet with it but I don't have to. I can do a lot of research on CD's rather than the internet. I can track financial information and set my budget. The internet is good but it is not all a computer can do.

When I started using computers there were no internet yet, so I was only able to write and play games on my computer. I enjoyed it very much and I thought it was fun to use a computer, even though was a very oldfashioned computer compared to the one that I am using now. Writing and playing games was enough to keep me happy and entertained for hours, but now find it very hard to use the computer without being connected to the internet 
I have become used to the many good things about the internet, I have become used to searching for information and finding it very quickly etc. Now I can't live without the internet

Everyone should consider the fact that computers were discovered and further invented without the purpose of internet. internet came much later. Computer is still used by the majority for simple tasks like calculating, Interactive learning, gaming, etc. So terming it useless without internet shall be a mistake. Anything and everything has its importance in different matters and the case is no different in case of Computers and Internet.

You are right without internet computer would be less useful, But i think there is still use when it doesn't have internet it will be use in encoding data such school paper, theses and term papers. For children they like to play games. But as you get mature,needs become different you want a more different and deeper use of things.

While I agree that the interenet is an important tool, I don't agree that it's necessary in every field. When I was writing computer code, developing and maintaining databases and also during the time I was involved in network administration, I rarely used the internet in relation to those jobs. I have hard cover books that I referenced. The internet is an important tool for the reasons you stated though and I have made use of it's capabilities in the past...taking some classes online and doing research...so I agree that it has become very important from an educational standpoint. I also agree that some fields of employment rely heavily on it. My husband uses the internet every day in conjunction of running out business. He uses it to order new motorcycle parts and gear and he also uses it to buy and sell old parts (and sometimes new ones) on sites like Ebay. So, yes, the inernet does have an important place in our lives.

well it all depends on the use and person to person. Computer has many many uses even without internet like databases and all that. Now every big company needs supercomputer to manage their files and all that. Internet is the dominant factor still computer has alot of uses without internet.

i so agree with you .. in this day and age without computer and internet you are basically cut off from the world around you..especially if your like me and limited in getting around..but i do feel they over charge people for this service...with so many using it i feel they could cut costs down somewhat...what do you think?

In the initial days, when there was no internet, we found many uses for the computer. It substituted the typewriter, maintaining accounts became easy. Soon the tape recorder became redundant... all these holds true even today. However with the advent of internet, all these tasks have value added, and now it is difficult to think of computers without internet. Yet6, it is still possible. The computer in my shop has no internet connection and yet I do manage to work get most of my work done there.
