Do you expect your lover to help you out financially?

I just had a discussion online with my friend. We talked about how men should help their girlfriends whenever they are in a difficult financial situation. Money has been the cause of many arguments and split ups. I was wondering how willing will you be to help out your girlfriend or boyfriend financially if you know she urgently needs it and has no source. The person has not asked anything from you but indirectly, she is asking for help. Would you do it? Or would you just say that it is not your responsibility?

If it is avoidable, I would rather not get involve in my partner's financial problems. For it would then become a root of something else. I know that as partners, you should be there for each other. But I have seen a lot of couples who got involved financially even though they were not married yet and they ended up fighting over it. So if possible, I would rather stay away from these kinds of issues.

Thanks for the response. I think this is true that's why most couples don't want to be involved financially with their partners.

If my partner don't have a source for his financial need I think I will not help him because that only means that he don't have a job. He must work for it, I will just help to motivate him to look for a job. But if he still don't have money to apply for job I will lend some amount for him just to help him to apply for jobs. I know that lending him some money is not part of my responsibility but I will do it just to help him even it is just little help and to make him self better.

If I am the guy NO because the girl will be dependent to me and will get lazy so she will no longer be motivated to work to support herself. Even a disable person can work, right? I have a Belgian bf right now, I never ask him for money. A lot of my friends are asking me how much money is he sending me, when I told them none, they will are surprised and amused. They even told me that he is not a good man for me. Foreign men are also smart these days, they look for independent and career woman, not who is somebody who will depend on them. Life is hard, both partners should work especially if they have their own families so that they can combine their incomes to support their children. Makes sense, right?

I wouldn't want to help them out completely, meaning I wouldn't want to use all of my money to support them completely. I'd expect them to be a bit proactive and try to work on changing their situations too. However, I would try to help them out as best as I could. I wouldn't want them to suffer because they were really broke and couldn't afford to eat or to get by.

Oh shoot I just wrote the longest answer to this and then the computer messed up and I lost it. To sum up my very good advice that was lost; a man should definately help his girlfriend. Especially if they have a physically intimate relationship definately. She shouldn't even have to ask for the help. I ask my boyfriend for help and he's helped me nearly everytime even when he was short on cash.

No!I never expect financial help from my lover, its unfair to his side. Its up to him to render help for me. I know my limitations as a person and that is, this manner could be much appreciated if were married already.
