Today at work I was asked by a friend to take a trip to pick up her boyfriend from the airport. The drive itself was 4 and a half hours one way. My friend said he wasn't going to go if i didn't go so pretty much 3 people were begging me to go with them, i pretty much said ill think about.. I had to ask my parents and they both said no because it would take so long to get back and everything, i had to call them both and they seemed pretty mad.. do you think i should have told my parents i was going to spend the night with one of them, or should i just have done what i did?

I think it is pretty difficult to do such an errand. I would not really want to do it if I had any choice in the matter. My brother asked me to attend to the dump truck that was being fixed and I refused. He tried to browbeat me into doing it but i held my ground and he ended up doing what he asked me to do. Cheers!!

Well i just hope tomorrow when i go to work they don't seem mad at me, I mean i sort of wanted to go, but the only thing i was worried about was my parents being worried about me.

Hi RobbieFox, I guess the question is 'do you yourself want to go?'. If not, then don't go. It's terrible having to please others, but we suffer the consequences. If I don't feel like it, and I agreed to, then most probably I would be very miserable and mad at myself during that to-and-fro journey (9-10 hours), thinking that I could have made better use of my time!
