According to the Holly Bible, human being was made by God's figure, which means selfish isnot the nature character of beginnig. To my traditional thinking of China, confucianism,we are told that human nature is kind-hearted. what's your opinions?

According to the Holy Bible, human beings were made in the image of God. When man sinned and disobeyed God, they lost holy nature of God and took on evil. If man does not walk with God, by default he walks in sin. Sin is selfish, self-centered, mean, jealous, etc. There was a disconnect when sin came into the world. Man became disconnected from God. Now we can connect to God through Jesus. We must work everyday to have a close relationship with God and get rid of the sin or wrong ways of living like selfishness. It is a daily process and many times we fall short but we can always be forgiven and keep trying. I hope this helps.

To the followers of the teachings of Confucius and most other eastern religions there is no such thing as sin. Without sin a much more positive view of human nature emerges. When you view your fellow humans as being basically good and not tainted by imaginary sin it is easier to establish a bond of trust with them. Without the preoccupation with the burden of sin it is easier to concentrate on the true prescription for living a good and productive life. Do no harm!

I did not mean to sound so main stream Christian. I love the person, not the bad action. Sometimes it is hard to see the person that is deep down inside. That is when I have to look deeper than the actions. I believe the core of us all is a part of what God is, love. I very much appreciate the above stated views. It makes my heart sing. Thank you for your kindness

I still think everybody is innocent at the beginning. Nobody was born as evil. But some people change as time goes by. Perhaps the environment and some people have some negative effects on them. I love China

yes, I totally believe human being is selfish. all people are self, although the degree is different. I don't believe in Bible. even there was a god, I thought he was also selfish. why would he want human being to trust if he is not selfish? I don't think there is anything wrong with selfish. of course, too much selfish is not good. anything that is too much is not good. Selfish is motivation. without such an motivation, you will get successful. I also don't completely agree with Confucius that human nature is kind-hearted. It should say, if offerings help would not get himself in trouble, give him inconvenience, is not against his benefit, he would probably help. would you sacrifice yourself for others? whoever does, he gets universal acclaim. we acclaim for something good and something unusual. if most of people does this, would people get acclaimed for the common thing? so in my two cents, human nature is a mix of good and bad. the one grow up to be a kind-hearted person or not, depends on the 'nurture'.

Hello Sinokirin, you are right when you said that we humans are created by God who is kind in His nature. But in Genesis 6:5 it says "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." Meaning the righteousness of man is a dirty rag to God. God is Holy and we are commanded to do the same thing, to be Holy in His sight. Everything that we do here, either to others they may say it is good, is not enough, because we do not boast of what we do, but what God has done in our lives to save us. Jeremiah 17:9 says "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" . In this verse, don't you think it contradicts to what you said about humans as kind-hearted. Check the world and you will see that people are dragged into self centeredness and only thinks nothing but himself, greedy and unthankful and blaspheming God. This is my opinion and to what i believe. I may not say force anyone here and argue because i am here on Mylot to share and voice out my opinion. Happy Mylotting!
