Many of us use shampoos on our hair almost everyday whenever we take a bath. There are some who shampoo almost twice or thrice a day. Sometimes we apply too many shampoo of different kinds and we love to make a big lather on our hair to really clean it up. However, some researchewrs said that shampooing too much is unhealthy for your hair. Whay do you think so?

I know that your hair has natural protective oils that keep it clean and healthy. The more you shampoo, the more you strip your hair of these oils. So frequent shampooing can actually damage your hair. When it comes to shampoo, less is more! There are also lots of shampoo alternatives like vinegar and baking soda. These will clean the dirt out of your hair but aren't as harsh and don't remove as much of your natural oils.

Hi there, sometimes I also overdo shampoo 'cos sometimes the weather here is humid and hot so I've got to take a bath again and shampoo also. I think it is unhealthy for our hair because when we over do it it makes our hair dry and also shampoo leaves residues on the hair and maybe on the scalp. So maybe you can dilute shampoo on water and not put it directly on your hair.

Hello Natz, what do you think will result if our scalp dries up? What could be the reason why we need not to put directly the shampoo on your hair,do we need to cleanse thoroughly our hair after shampoo?. Can you share your thoughts about this simple questions. Thanks and happy mylotting.

Truly shampoo can damage your hair if overdone, like in the quote, "anything excessive is harmful". What could be the possible reason why hair fall increasing with frequent shampooing? Is it because of the active ingredients of the shampoo itself or the frequency we are using it. Can you share some ideas about this?. Thanks anf Happy mylotting Sophie.

Hello Pickwick, truly some shampoos are harsh to our hair if overdone, especially if our hair is sensitive to such ingredients found on the shampoo. You said you dilute it with water before using, why is this so?. Any reason you can share about this? Thanks for your response.

Well I do that too Alex, every other day, I have observed that when you always shampoo everyday, more and more hair strands are removed while you comb your hair. Some of my friends ask me whats the best anti-dandruff shampoo in the market. Can your share which shampoo is best for dandruff and what ingredients help decrease dandruff occurence? Thanks for your response Alex.

I usually wash my hair with shampoo everyday in the afternoon, it is because i do all my works outside home. I have to face with sunlight exposure, dust, vehicle smoke, a lot of pollution outside there which can make my hair get dirty quicky, so i have to clean it when i come back home. I know shampooing too much is not good for our hair, but it is also not good if a lot of dust stick on our hair.
