I'm just curious to see what people think about stereotypes. Good? Bad? Funny? Sad?

I don't think Sterotypes are a very good way to judge people. It is just so lazy. While some sterotypes may be based in some amount of truth, overall it is just a silly way to judge people. Even if a stereotype was 70% accurate (and that is just for illustration, not based in reality), that would still leave MILLIONS of people who don't correspond to the typical story. I have met many people from around the globe, different races, different nationalities who don't act one bit like the accepeted sterotype. I suggest you meet each person as an individual and and judge them on their actions,, not some silly sterotype.

Yea, I get what you are sayong. What about positive stereotypes?? Something like "If a person is a engineer, they must be really smart" or "If you are black, you must be good at sports". Do you think if a stereotype is positive it is still not a good thing?

No, I still think it is lazy to rely on stereotypes. Good or bad.. the best way is to observe and evaluate people as individuals. While credentials are good... I have still found it best to speak with people and observe before giving them good or bad feelings. Of course that is risky too if you only have a short time, so maybe you will allow credit to someone who has a nice CV, but I have met many people who went to smaller schools or maybe had little 'formal' education who were smarter, and harder workers, than those who went to a 'prestigous' school or have a nice degree. Of coure this is just my opinion... sometimes you can't have much time to observe yourself so you must make a quick decision, and stereotpes may be all you have available, but if I have the luxury of time I prefer to evaluate people as individuals.
