How do you build relationship with your friend?

Hi,all fellows in mylot.Someone wrote:"friendships are,from years to years,the best of all life's treasures."But being a good friend to someone,is never simple or easy.It requires wisdom and lots of hard work.I often be willing to allow my friend to enjoy the company of other friends even without me,but they'll say i don't as them a friend,i ignor them;when my friend shares something with me and i take serious what he or she says,they may say i don't understand them,am i?I felt that is difficult.So for you,how do you ..?
