Mainly because the gas prices are yet low for now. Most vendors of fishball use kerosene to cook those yummy fishballs. Kerosene is much cheaper that diesel too so its not really affected by price increases. Some use LPG to cook it too, but for now LPG prices have gone down to a more comfortable price. The cost of manufacturing fishballs is cheap too, it doesn't need any complicated machines that run by diesel fuel or even machine that are operated by electricity. Maybe we can see a high flying fishball price when manufacturing of such food products are limited, meaning apply your law of supply and demand, shortage of supply will jack up the prices. For now lets savor the flavor of fishball now that its still cheap and affordable, patusok nman 3 pesos lng lol.

Perhaps because the fish is plentiful in the waters around your country, and it doesn't cost the producers of fish balls any more money to make them, or perhaps they were just making a heap of profit beforehand and don't need to increase the price because increasing the price might lose them sales.
Brightest Blessings.

Nobody will buy if they will increase the price of fishballs every year!
When I was a kid, fishballs were only P0.10 cents!

hahaha yeah Its price do not increase in a couple years, for some reasons maybe that the gas use to cook are cheap and maybe the street vendors earn a lot by selling also kikiams, meat balls, squid balls, and other favorite street dishes. :D

maybe because its not that expensive to buy in the market thats why they havent change its pricing. but here we already have it by 1 peso. but thats just fine. its still a small amount and you could still eat lots of it. right?! its yummy though with some nice sauce to go with.

Hi hershiez!
I think the price of fishball had been fixed and steady at 0.50 cents for a very long time. If my memory will serve me right, this was the price of it since I was in college which was 10 years ago. It is really funny that the price of almost everything particularly food stuff had grown higher, and here, we could still get fishball at 0.50 cents in food cart. Whooh, does this mean that the ingredients in making fishball did not increases in price or do they alter these ingredients with some stuff just like we usually see in TV expose for some products (I do hope they don't cause I love to eat fishball up to now).
One thing that I really noticed, the size of fishball had grown smaller through the years. Maybe they just maintain the price to 0.50 cents but compensate this to the size of the fishball.

They could be degrading the quality or decreasing the size or both. That could be the reasons why it stayed in .50 cents. Also, it could be because it's what poor people can afford so fishballers could be being considerate. Afterall, fishballs are part of Philippine culture.

Hi hershiez, good day to you my beautiful friend. Well i also wonder, why does the cost of fish ball is not increasing either decreasing? Hmp, in my opinion? I think because the material in making a fishball is very common and did not affect by the low economy rate. Well because fish ball is still 50 cent, most of the filipino buy more of this kind of street foods. You know that our Kababayan Filipinos are really love those product, foods, and service especially when the price is very affordable. By the way, i would like to add to my response that if you will buy 5 pesos worth fishball you will no longer feel hungry, especially if you will partner it with juice that will make you enough.
Hmmp, when the topic is about street foods , i really feel hungry. And last i would like to share my experience in eating street foods. While walking in our street, with a money of 10 pesos, and thinking were should i eat? I go find a street food vendor and got no longer feel hungry. By the way in my expirience just make sure that when eating a street foods make sure that it is clean and away from dirt. Well that's all my response to your discussion entitled " why fish ball are still 0.50 cents each". Happy posting and happy earning. Good luck to our earning career here in this site.
By the way thank you for adding me to be your friend hershiez. . . Nice picture hershiez hehe LOL...

Oh yeah nice observation hershiez. I think it is so because the raw materials resources are not scarce. Maybe there are still unlimited resource of it that's why there's no increase in its price. It could also be the strategy of sellers to capture more a large number of buyers, although the price did'nt increase but the demand increased. Happy mylotting. Great day ahead :-)

Hahaha! Well, there was a time where fishball sold to the streets, 3 pieces for 2 pesos. I think that was like last year, when the prices went up. I got pissed off when it becamse like that. I stopped eating when the price was like 2pesos for 3 pieces. Now, it went back to the original price of 50cents. And I am just happy with it. Hehehe.
