how affected can you get over a thing?

Hello everyone! My friend recently sold her old Misubishi Lancer which she had been using for some 8 years or so. It was a good car, well maintained and taken cared for, but it also had its share of breakdowns, and traffic accidents well survived in all the years my friend used it. Now that she sold it (she has plans to get a brand new car within the year), she told me that she missed her old car like she lost a loved one. She can't seem to get over losing her old car like it was family. I can see how badly affected she is, not that she minded taking public transport, but how attached she has been to the old car. How about you? Have you felt the same way about a thing or something that you have? Can one really get so attached to a thing that you'll hate losing it? Like it was a part of you?

Hi Ate Au. I am also like that although I haven't experienced yet getting so affected with the loss of a thing. If I love something I own I won't sell it or give it away; I will just keep it until it gets broken that I can't use it anymore. But as long as it is functional I will keep it. I might even put it on display like an antique if it is not functional anymore; like a memorabilia hehehe....I remember a friend of mine who aso owns a 1970's model of Mitsubishi Lancer. He won't sell it or give it away even if he can afford to buy a new and modern car.
