do you ever get tired of watching the same old tatt on tv? I know I do, so I've gone looking at some of the US shows and found some winners like The Company and Mad Men. These shows are only just getting screened in the UK so I wondered what UK stuff does the US get? and then I thought I'd put a little list of good stuff thats come out of the UK which are really worth seeing, and here they are with a little desription of what they're about
Life on Mars - Drama about a police detective in a coma which transports him to 1970's britain, stars John Simms
Red Riding - Brilliant short crime series about abductions and murders over a 30 year period, absolutely gripping, beautifully shot and acted- it finished yesterday and its a tour de force of British talent
Shameless - Comedy drama about about a poor family on benefits on a crime ridden council estate in Manchester, wickedly funny, very astute observations and so close to how the British underclass live it's amazing it got broadcast at all.
The Lakes - drama about a close knit community in Wales. starring John Simms. this came out in the 90's but it was brilliant, great acting, wicked soundtrack.
Being Human - comedy drama about a Werewolf, Vampire and a Ghost sharing a house. a brilliant little 'sleeper hit' thats really enjoyable.
so now I've made a little list, so mylotters what international TV am I missing out on?

Hi, I don't watch too much television but I do like the series "House" about a doctor who is extemely smart but he is a little short on manners, no people skills. That is the only one I watch most of the time on the weekends. House stars Hugh Laurie, really like the actor and he doesnt even speak with his accent during the tv show. I also like The X-Files reruns and some comedies on reruns,Frasier, and Friends. I do not like reality tv programs but I watch msnbc 3 news programs Countdown with Keith Oberman, The Rachel Maddow show and HardBall with Chris Matthews.

Hi ds6413!
Thanks for your response, I don't get to watch much these days - I just download the series I want! House is way cool - did you know he started out as a comic actor - he's in an old but brilliant british show 'Blackadder'. I've been checking out 'the Beast' with Patrick Swayze - pretty cool undercover cop show. Reality TV shows suck because it's not real, the moment an awareness of the camera is there, reality takes a back seat!!with this post I was hoping someone would check out the list and get back to me.

I never seen anything else Hugh Laurie was on but only a short role he did on the series "Friends" I think in 1997 or 1998.He played a passenger on a flight to London. He was also guest stared on Saturday Night Live. I will have to check out information on that show you mentioned, thanks.
