I dont why, being a chinese, i know a lot of foreigners could use chopsticks very well, and they like chinese cooking food. well, i try to ask you, not chinese here, lol, could you use chopsticks? if you could, how do you feel when first using them? if you couldnt, do you have the interesting to use them? Looking forward your response sincerely!

Honestly, no! I love Chinese food but never learned how to use chopsticks. I have been interested in learning how to use them. I've just never gotten around to doing it.

The next time you go to a Chinese restaurant, pick up a package of the disposable type sticks. Read the packaging as many of them actually have instructions on how to properly hold and use them. If you want to prepare yourself before you use them in public, get a pair and go here http://www.robsworld.org/chopsticks.html

ive been at hongkong to work and been at japan twice to work as well. when i went at hongkong to work, hongkong was still under british colony so it was more on spoons and fork for there are a lot of americans and british as well. but at japan there are places were there were no forks specially at the small ramen houses so i just have to use chopsticks. it was fun using chopstick and one of my japanese friend even ask me if i could pick up a corn kernel. I did!!! lol

hi,there. HK men used chopsticks at home also, lol,if in the western restaurants, they would use spoons and forks. Japan has a long history of using chopsticks,i thinks, maybe from Tang Dynasty...... You have been a lot of countries?

I haven't used them in a while, but yes, I can use them. I learned on a visit to China where I also learned that the "Chinese" food we eat in the United States is VERY different that what the Chinese people call food. Everything here has been Americanized and just isn't the same, so when I want Chinese food I cook it at home using methods I learned abroad. Now, back to the subject of chopsticks. Yes, if I wanted to use them I could do it again. May take a little practice but I am sure I could do it. The only thing I could never get down was eating Jell-O with them, though I have a good friend that can do it. By the way, eating with chopsticks is also healthier. I know, WHY? Well, you don't shovel food into your mouth like you do with a fork. It takes you longer to eat your food and you tend to chew more which aids in digestion. Maybe it isn't the best weight loss plan, but my head is full of these funny little bits of trivia, and I think I will start to share them with my fellow myLotters. Bon Apetit!

Thank you very much for your detail of chopsticks! It's a pity to hear that the chinese food in US has been Americanized, which means you couldnt taste the food what the chinese people call food. and chopsticks, i think, what you knew more than mine..... which make me very ashamed. Thanks your best response here.

I don't know how to use chopsticks, but I've always wanted to learn. Haven't succeeded at it yet, though. Most of the time, when restaurants give out chopsticks, I ask for spoon and fork. Attempting to eat with chopsticks will just starve me, haha. Before the food gets into my mouth, they've all fallen back to the plate. =)
