Hello mylotters! I wonder if you are racists? Now, deep inside yourself (wheter you are black, white or other color) you consider others strange somehow. I am a little racist against gipsies (because they steal and do a lot of infractions every day), and also against some of the black people, and also against the jew (Oh my Gosh). And I don't want to be like that, I am a mature man and I know that not all are the same...But I can't get over it...What can I do?

Good day... What is a race? Does it mean that if we are of different race, we are totally different from one another? Does a Jew had a different blood from a black man? Does a white man has more bones than an Indian? I think you should look pass the color of skin and eyes and look more into the heart and mind of a person.

It has everything to do with generalization. Try not to generalize when you get a bad experience from a person with a particular ethnicity. It's really not fair to base one's judgment over a person's skin color. People have their own bad side regardless of their race and I think it would be intellectually mature if you judge a person by the way they do things and not by the way they look outside. They are human beings too you know.

No, you are not racist, you are a bigot. The first step to overcoming your problem is to understand that there is no such thing as race. The human species is all one big family and we are all related.
Fifty thousand years ago a small band of brave people packed up and began a journey out of Africa that would populate the world with our species. Every one of us, no matter where we live in this world, are related to this original population.
Those people that you feel strange around are all members of your family. Start to see them as your family and treat them as the long lost relative they are.

Well not quite true; whilst what you say holds for people outside sub-Saharan Africa, there are people there that are descended not from those that left.

You are correct. I thought about that when I was replying to this but didn't include it. They also share the same common line of genetic decent so they are also members of our big, occasionally happy human family.

Your best bet is to make friends with different people, you will soon see that whilst there are differences, people are more alike than different.

You should try to make friends with the exact type of people you feel are strange. Most likely you will find that they are people just like you and you will have more in common with them than you think. I have always been around different ethnicities since I was young. My first babysitter was white, but none of the kids were but me. The other kids were black, spanish, and asian. I think this exposure at a young age made me the person I am today. I never feel uncomfortable around another race and I don't judge others based on their race.

Hi,Volkus,I don't think you are racist. In my opinion, your feeling on Gipsies is very normal because of their bad behavior. There are over 50 races in my nation. Some of them are very same to Gipsy. They are very poor and not well educated, always steal and cheat in big cities,So lots of people like me are disgusted with them very much.In spite of this, I think we should not only hate them but also help them. One of these days a Gipsy child will became parent. If he is good at stealing, so does his child.

interesting.
Perhaps it is fine that nothing can be done. We may not be able to change the way we feel, at least not without prolonged immersion in extremely positive experiences e.g. working with other races.
Isn't it amazing how easy and convenient it is to be a racist.
There is a saying: "If we shall overcome all forms of structural violence including racism, we may need to spend our entire lifetime patiently learning, relearning and even unlearning... that the amount of good and evil in a person seems to have little correlation to race..."
Cheers.
