Washing powder or washing liquid?

In order to save a bit of money, I bought washing powder instead of washing liquid to wash my dishes. I tried using it and apart from being hard to rinse off and messy, it left a peculiar smell on my dishes after I used it. Apart from price, do you think there are other benefits to using washing powder to wash dishes instead of washing liquid?

we don't use washing powder as what you experienced but instead you can use a dishwashing paste which is cheaper and has a nice result.

We use the liquid for washing dishes, and the powder for the dishwasher. For clothes, I prefer the liquid and use the free and clear All. It cleans well and use can actually use less unless you have heavy soils than it says to.

We use the gel or liquid in our dishwasher. I think it cleans better. The powders almost always seems to leave a residue on the dishes. Besides, it tends to clump and cake. ICK!

I agree. When I used the powder, it did leave some residue that I had to clean off with a towel.

I know theres a powder for the dishwasher but not for handwashing that I'm aware of either. I usually water mine down anyway so no biggie.

No.. Washing liquids can last for some extra days than the washing powder, I think. Washing powder also causes some kind of scratches on metal utensils. They mar the polish of those metal utensils. If you consider these too, you may not mind the little savings.

Oh dear. Thank goodness most of my utensils are made out of glass, apart from the cutlery. I might want to consider getting myself some liquid detergent instead. That's $1 down the drain. Sigh...
