Ok so the government is pumping billions of dollars into companies that have for years did what they wanted to do with little to no thought of the end user or the people. We are simply rewarding failure. So rather than pump billions of dollars into failing companies why not give every American over the age of 18. $ 1,000,000 tax free dollars. We get this money completely free of all taxes. However the taxes that follow like sales tax and property tax and the like are then our problems.
But think about this for a minute we start buying new cars thereby bailing out the automakers new homes bailing out the real estate market and so on and so forth

I presume you are referring to the United States when you talk about the "government". I have to agree with you that the bailouts that have been handed out by the "government" have gone to companies/banks that most probably have mismanaged their funds and big sums of money have ended up in greedy hands.
The United States is certainly in a big mess. Although I agree with some of President Obama's stands on certain issues, I do think he is inexperienced and may be making some incorrect decisions. I am glad to see that he is making the recipients of his bailout handouts more accountable for where they are spending the money but it may be a case of too little, too late.
Of course I agree with you that giving the taxpayers (American citizens) some tax-free money would help stimulate the economy faster. I have a friend in the car business who is really having a hard time making ends meet. I surely would like to see her business at least break even if not make a little profit. Her and her husband are hardworking and not greedy at all. It is these kinds of people that we need to help and support as consumers. We can only do that if we are able to get some spending money.
California in particular is getting hit with very heavy higher taxes starting April 1, 2009. These taxes are very unfair. The state is now a welfare state and many many taxpayers are upset at having to support all the social programs for illegal residents as well as welfare fraud and other fraud going on. It is a runaway train headed for a train wreck of great magnitude. The Governor of California claims to be a Republican but he encouraged raising taxes to the highest levels in the States. California government is very corrupt. Governor Arnold Schw.... is not a republican and is only out to make a name for himself bigger than when he just had his acting career. Soon will be the demise of California because the numbers of people the state and taxpayers have to support will be so overwhelming that no amount of taxes can make up for the amount of money going out for social programs. Very sad. I really wish I could leave California but I can't.
