I am having my first baby in July, and I want to know when is a good time to buy the necessities. Money is definitely tight, so I want to get the things that are "must haves" without breaking my pocketbook. I do plan to breastfeed, so I think that will eliminate the need for formula, Also I can't afford this, but I will have to quit working very soon, because I have been having a lot of "pass out" moments and various aches and pains that make me pretty useless at my job. With everything going on I feel really stressed and at a loss for what to do. Can any of my mylot family help? I'd really appreciate any suggestions, advise, and words of encouragement. :)

Hi, Naylani! Welcome to myLot!! The best way to shop is to get things bit by bit. Say if you have $5.00 as of now. Go and get sonething that the baby can use as of now. Like wipes and a little toy.. Everytime that you get some money, try to buy the baby pampers, burp cloths and socks... Plus glass bottles, these are safer. Just buy bit by bit and I guarantee, that by July, you will have enough items for your new baby. One tip, try not too buy too much pampers in the 0 size.. A baby grows very rapidly those first few months. So, I would suggest that you only get about 2 packs of these pampers. The hospital that you deliver at will give you some extra ones. Also, now you can start buying a little more pampers as the baby grows month after month. Make sure that you have a sturdy car seat, they won't let you leave the hospital without one. And make sure that you have the proper clothing to put on your baby. When the baby is in the room with you from the time that you have to leave the hospital. Have your bags packed with what you want to bring for your own personal use. Like chapstick, comb, brush, toothpaste, some comfortable clothing and shoes that are flat to your feet. I congratulate you on the birth of your new baby! And congratulations on becoming a new mom soon! Take care of yourself, Naylani!

Definitely one thing you should stock up on, as you have the money, is baby wipes. You're going to need those for like the next 2-4 years. I don't necessarily mean to get enough for 2-4 years, but a good supply to start out would be a good thing to have. Make sure to get the refill packs with the pop-up lids, or else get a really good box with a pop-up lids. Those resealable stripes on some refill packs don't always work.

I think the best time to buy baby stuff is after you get the result of the ultra-sound. At least you know whether to buy for a boy or for a girl. And it so easy now to know what motff to follow for your baby.

If it were me, I wouldn't be getting anything specific to a boy or girl until you know what the gender is, but I would still wait until the 2nd or 3rd trimester, just in case something happened. Most likely nothing would happen, but it happens all the time. My cousin bought all her stuff early and then couldn't use it because something happened.

i started buying for all three of my children as soon as I confirmed that i was pregnant. diapers maybe once a month in different sizes, bottles, wipes, unisex colored blankets, washclothes etc. Once I found out what i was having I started buying specifics like clothes and things. There are also a lot of free samples sites online that you can get baby samples or find out about programs to get coupons for baby things. I've gotten free sippy cups, bottles, diaper samples, formula samples, diaper coupons, etc.
Some of the sites are mysavings.com, freestufftimes.com, startsampling.com The way i look at it, you won't get everything you need from these sites but every little bit helps

The best time to buy baby stuff is june a month before you gave birth, because when a few weeks before you will give birth buying stuff, you will end up rushing, you may also use a hand me down stuff because it's quite hard to earn money these days, You may some when unexpected fever raise you don't know when it will happen you are quite prepared because you a little savings, as well as for his/her education in the future.

When your baby is born, you will be very tired and stressed out so it will always be best to have your basic necessities all ready and set up at home. basic necessities includes: diapers, bottles, sterilizers, milk, clothes, mosquito nets, crib, etc. After you've gotten your baby necessities you and your spouse(if you have one) should familiarize yourselves with where you have place this items. So if your baby needs a diaper change in the middle of the night or some milk you'd immediately know where it is and wouldn't have to wake up your partner to find out where he/she put it. Oh and you should be careful with some pacifiers, they can damage your babies teeth and then you'd have to spend more to get 'em corrected. So once teeth start to grow you should immediately remove the pacifier from its routine. And remember to not let your baby suck on any dirty fingers (yours or their own or whoever s) Good luck with babes!

go on the internet and sign up for baby sites, some of these will send coupons for formula (just in case you need it), diapers, etc. Some send samples as well.
Pick up things slowly as you need them. Is someone throwing you a baby shower? If so, and they ask you what you need, make a list of things that you would like.
Just pick up things as you can afford them. Some places have baby items that have been gently used, and affordable. Even thrift stores sometimes have things that are gently used.
Good luck

I think you should prepare for some baby stuff before the date coming.you can choose the necessary things, such as powdered milk, feeding bottle and paper diaper.i think any time is a good time.before doing this, you should make a list of the stuff you need.if possible,i think your husband can undertake this task during this time.at that time i was responsible for buying all of baby stuff after my wife had made a list.

Hi Naylani, congratulation on your pregnancy. Having a baby is really a blessing from God. I just gave birth and my baby is 4 month old now. It's really hard deciding what baby stuffs to buy first. I started buying items on my 6th month of pregnancy when I was informed of the gender of the baby. I inially bought blankets, dresses, bibs, mittens, booties and diaper clips. Then from time to time I had short trip to the malls to buy small items for baby. I bought the crib when I am about to deliver. Hope this helps. Thanks!!!
