Metabolic Resistance OR sluggish metabolism?

My weight has been rapidly increasing since my mid 20's. I never had a weight problem before that. I am 5'3 and weighed 118 when i graduated high school. 125lbs when i graduated college. Within 3 months of starting my new job i had gained 30lbs. I realized quickly that i couldn't slack off on the exercise. I had always been active and never had a weight problem. At age 27 I had to get hormone shots (Lupron) for 6 months that throws your body into instant menapause. Gained about 20+ lbs during that time. Repeated that process again at 34. More weight. Then married, fertility drugs, ovarian shut down, hysterectomy, knee injury resulting in surgery 3 weeks ago. During all of this i have developed high blood pressure, increased cholesterol, excessive day time sleepiness. Weight maxed out at 250. Currently at 232. I have not been able to exercise at all for the last 5 months due to the surgeries and this is adding to my frustration. I was told my metabolism was sluggish and i should try harder. I watch what i eat, drink plenty of water, get my needed sleep. Recently, i found out a friend of mine is in need of a kidney transplant sooner than thought. We have the same blood type but no further testing would be considered until i get myself healthy. I really love my friend and want to help so i am asking for you to help me help him. Where to start? What to do to get back in shape until the knee heals?

Hi passionate1, you could try out qigong, a lightweight Chinese exercise (just try youtube-ing it). You could also try eating sweet potatoes, a food that is good for your pancreas and helps with leptin resistance and use it as a meal replacement. Walking for 30 minutes everyday also helps.

You could start working out with Qigong, a very lightweight Chinese exercise. And walking half an hour everyday. You could also try eating sweet potatoes everyday, they have been known to help with insulin resistance.

I'm over weight and have been all my life. About 12 years ago I started putting on 80lbs in a year. Since then 30 more pounds have piled on! I suffer from depression and that doesn't help! I should be more active but I'm not! I have more excuses they probaly the average person why I don't! I sure my age has something to do with it and my metabolism is screwed up! I know my eating habits are bad and wish there was a magic pill to make me lose weight and keep it of! NOT! Anyway my health in ok.I don't have any health issues. I suggest not to see about donating a kidney! You have to many issues to deal with! Worry about yourself for now and get better!

Dear Passionate1
I do understand your weight and health problem. But fear not there is still hope! First thing first. Take care of your health first and then talk about your weight. Try to eliminate your other sickness problems first. Of course you should join a 'health clinic' From the tone of your message, it appears that you have many ailments. Try to follow a program that helps you to be fits and healthy. Remember that your organs seems to be out of normal control. Once you are healthy then take drastic steps to get an ideal weight with plenty of good food and exercise. Always think that 'health is wealth' and you will not go wrong. Thanks! Bro. Joe.GBU
