Sun, Locke and Ben not back in 1977 like everyone else?

So why were Jack, kate, Hurley and Syid transported off the plane and back to 1977 and Sun, Locke and Ben weren't? I can come up with possible reasons for Lock and Ben but not one for Sun unless it is because she is without her child. For Ben it would be because he was not supposed to be able to return and for Locke maybe because he not only had left by the portal thing but was also dead. So Christian told Sun she had a long journey to get to her husband, but how will Locke and Ben get to 1977? We know that all of them will eventually be united.

I wish I could figure this show out...LOL, it gets more complicated as the weeks go by but hopefully we will be able to get some answers... and yet i continue to watch it from week to week just waiting to see what will happen....LOL

I was wondering that myself... and were are Rose and Bernard and everyone else that didn't get 'rescued'?
Another thing I wondered was if Kate, Hurley and Jack arrived on the island when the 'time flashes' were happening why did they seem to arrive in 1977 and not 1974 when Sawyer and the others stopped moving through time?
That is what is bugging me the most I think. The last episode was great though! I just hope Sawyer doesn't be stupid and decide to go back to Kate... he's been with Juliet for THREE years!!
