how to help poor people

I think merely giving somemoney to the poor people may not be called a help given to them ! For that matter money or clothes or any other things given to them in the form of alms or donations may not change their lives. They need to have a regular source of income which is gernerated by themselves in a dignified manner! Then only they can live a dignified or respectful life! For this as we were taught in our Extention class whwn we were in our Professional college, we need to 'Help the poor to help themselves!' Thus to provide a regular source of income we should encourage and if possible helpthem to procure an employment as per their capability and also encpuraging them to send their wards to government schools to attain minimum education which in most countries is provided free of cost, tomake them a self relient individuals when they will grow up! There are many Charitable institutes which are helping such poor people! I am not very much in favour of these Charitable clubs as they are more into earning the name for themselves than actually helping the poor. But then there are good organisations who are training the poor into some vocational cources so that they can have some job to maintain themselves and support their respective families! Thus in my opinon the best way of helping the poor is to 'Help them to help themselves!' Thanks ! It was a wonderful discussion initiated1 I loved participating in it!
