Do you leave your purse/wallet in the car?

With all the thefts that go on (including identity theft), do you do this? I had a friend who used to leave her purse in the glove box or center console, or at least her wallet and checkbook! I think this is a terrible idea, in fact her car was stolen and the perps went on a spending spree! If she hadn't had that stuff in her car it never would have happened.
I never leave anything in the car. Other than the junk we forgot to bring in, like the occasional backpack, jacket, shoes, etc.

In addition, if you have a GPS system in your car, you will also need to be careful. Some thieves break in to steal the system and sell for for half the original price (which could amount to - a lot). I hope the cops had caught the perps who did so.

I have one but I only connect it when I'm using it. I usually keep it in the house unless I am using it to drive out of town... I'm good within about a 20 mile radius of my house, beyond that I like to have a little insurance against getting lost. I am pretty directionally challenged, don't ever tell me east or west, I'll probably drive SOUTH for 12 miles before I have any idea I'm not going on the right axis!

I hope it is on a chain. If the wallet falls out of your pocket or some pick pocket targets you, your whole life is in that wallet, the money is the least of your worries. It is your credit cards and identity that is valuable too.

No chain for me. If anyone thinks they can actually get my wallet out of my pocket without me knowing, I wish them good luck. My wallet is fat and even I often have trouble getting it out of my pocket They wouldn't get much with my identity, I have terrible credit and don't know anyone dumb enough to give me any more

Hehehe... you know, I seem to notice that men carry a wallet in their back pocket and women just carry a wallet in a purse, diaper bag, or in conjuction with a planner (that has a pocket for a wallet and cell phone). I don't think I have ever carried a wallet in my pocket, I keep very little in my pockets, if anything, which is why I'm always shocked and over the moon if I stick my hands in a pocket of something before I toss it in the laundry and discover ten bucks or a coupon for a free lunch or whatever!

I would never leave my purse or wallet in the car or any place. I have on me at all times, unless I am at home where I leave it where I can get a hold of it. It is too dangerous even to leave something like that in the trunk, not to mention the idea of having the keys in and forgetting them. Since I keep my house keys in my purse, it is not that wise. And anyone can break into a car even in the trunk of a car.

The only reason I have left my purse in the trunk rather than inside the car is that it is then hidden. Nobody prowling, deciding which car in a lot to break into would necessarily know there was a purse in the trunk, whereas if someone just left a purse on the seat or on the floor - it would be automatic for a thief to notice and maybe decide on THAT car, maybe coupled with noticing no internal alarm so there would be nothing to alert the car owner.
Also, if I leave my car unattended, I always lock it, meaning all my keys are on ME.

My hubby always warns me not to leave any valuable things in the car.Why there is still someone want to attain without effort?oh,gosh!

It annoys me that people go around stealing from others instead of doing whatever they need to/should do in order to accomplish it themselves. Either way, SOMEBODY is doing the work to attain the goal - unless someone is born into money or wins the lotto, know what I mean? Some of this is victim mentality, or entitled mentality, both of which are LEARNED behaviors and both very negative.
I feel that we all enter this world equally - with nothing, and it is truly up to each of us to accomplish things. We aren't OWED anything by anybody, and we are not deserving above what we have courtesy of our parents or other people, or what we attain through the connections or bonds we make. I don't understand the people who go about grumbling about being poor because they were born that way, or people who think they are better simply because their grandparents are rich and so by default their parents are rich. Even my own kids have befuddled me by saying things like 'I'm well off' because even if we WERE, that doesn't mean they are.. lol. I have since discovered they have some really warped ideas about the concept of that too, especially since the economic downturn that has been happening.

I never leave my purse in my car or anyone's car for that matter. If I'm not going to be needing it for what I'm doing for the day, I'll either leave it at home or at least somewhere I think is considerably safe (alright, maybe the trunk). I have a friend who got a gym bag full of his--clean--clothes stolen out of a cousin's car along with his iPod and another friend lost $400 that she gave to another friend for the sake of getting her boyfriend something when the friend of the friend's car got broken into. I think it's a bad idea to leave money at all in a car unless it's change that you don't really care too much about.

I would never leave a checkbook or wallet in the car for just the reasons you stated. I always have my credit and atm cards in my pocket. I really don't take the checkbook out of the houses I use the debit card instead. Some thing that i see all the time is women shopping and they have their purses open with their backs turned to it. It would take no effort or time for someone to remove anything from it. I never even carry a purse any more. I only take what cards or money I need for the shopping trip.

Hi mommyboo
I don't leave my wallet in my car anytime.
However inconvenient it may be,I keep it always in my pant pocket.
So that you don't forget it to take from the car when you get down from the car.
Apart from getting stolen, you may also find it bad, when you don't find your wallet
at the time of making any payment.
Happy mylotting

I never leave my purse in the car. I have a debit card, a checkbook, my license and other things in my wallet. Leaving that in the car to let someone steal it so easily would mean big trouble for me as I'd have to track down all of these companies to close accounts and what not because things were stolen. My purse always comes with me.

I don't not even anything..I want to empty the car with all my stuff..We can't trust a lot of people this time, they will really try their very best to get any valuable things from anyone's car or even house!

Other than the car seats, bits of junk and the occassional jumper, we don't leave any thing in the car - well, I don't. My partner leaves a handful of coins in the console between the seats, but unless you knew it was there, you'd never find it. Too many other things in the way!
I try to get the message through to him that even when at home, the car needs to be locked, but he never listens. We have a bit of a problem with teens going around and pinching stuff from cars that aren't locked, and they don't care if you are outside either, infact, the more challenging it is for the teens, the more they like it.

I never leave my purse in a car even if there were a security officer, because I just can trust people I never knew and I think it is more safety to bring my purse wherever I go.
