Afraid eating in front of a guy?

Yesterday, after lunch, my friend came in to class. She told that she was hungry. And I asked her what she ate for lunch. She told me she didn't eat anything. I remember she told me earlier this week that she hadn't been able to eat much. At first I thought she was becoming anorexic. But then I remembered someone was talking about not feeling comfortable about eating in front of a guy friend or a boyfriend. I knew she had a guy because one of our guy friends had gotten them together. I asked her if the guy was in our lunch period. She said yes and they always sit together. I asked her if she was conscious about eating in front of her boyfriend. I thought about the many times I ate with some of my guy friends, I was comfortable with some of my closer guy friends enough to eat in front of them without caring. There were times where I sat I ate with some other not so close guy friends and I felt so uncomfortable that I almost made a fool of myself. I asked her if she was self conscious about eating in front of him. She said, "Yes! Oh my gosh! I don't know why! When I'm with you guys, I'm fine. You know I eat!" She even eats in front our other guy friends and some her ex-boyfriends. Do you ever do that? Why do we girls do it? Do you guys even notice how we eat? Do you guys even care?

FIGHT SHY OF Thanks for providing good discussion. Why I said good?. Because your point of discussion really reminds me during my previous schooling time learning about two (2) proverbs or punctuations for; still a few dollars shy of our goal; AND; an inch shy of being six feet. Meaning that, shy made us less. HER INFERIOR PERSONALITY Actually, when she put herself low down like that and turned herself starving, I think it is not "shy" that concerned. But, already far down to inferiority complex. She shouldn't do that, as health must take first. By the way, enjoy eating with guy or guys, very interesting and exciting, what! LOL! Unless you girls "swallow" banana in front of guys!...LOL! Sorry, C; a nice reminder of jokes, actually. GUY ENJOY EATING WITH GIRL What a precious moment if there is an opportunity to eat gourmet food with a girl or girls. The more girls grouped with one guy on enjoying foods, really a high pride for one guy...what they called it? oh yes...macho! LOL! Normally, a guy never bother or with no botheration if a girl politely excuses before him asking for help to get some foods, especially when starving. A guy always waiting for girl's request to render his help. Don't you feel this kind of good situation while on eating foods with your boyfriend?

I'm glad to know that guys actually like seeing us eat. I know she is a little insecure. She always thinks that she won't be enough for her boyfriend. (sighs) she really makes me sad when she says that. She doesn't know or want to believe that she is beautiful. Lol at the banana comment :P I did not know that guys still waited on a girl to ask for favors. Macho? haha. For some reason, that word seems to remind me of Nachos. Hmmm... I wonder why...? Cheeeesyyy. lol

After MACHO.....it must be MUCHO..hahaha!. In Spanish language MUCHO is much. I only learned one sentence from my Spanish girl friend - "La unica mujer en mi corazon, te amo mucho mucho mucho!!!" (You are the one lady in my heart, I love you very much much much)

oh what a crime shame you feel shy to eat.. I'm sorry you feel that way but seriously its no big deal. In fact men Love watching women eat! its very arousing to them to watch you eat especially if tend to lick your lips when u have sauce or something spilled on your lips... I personally dont care if there's a guy there or not. If I'm hungry I will eat!! I have one of those bodies where the more I eat the skinnier I become so I do eat quiet a bit if I'm really starving. Now I don't eat in savage manner, but i just eat until my stomach can't take anymore. So don't be shy.. your only jeopardising your health.. trust me guys love it when you eat!

Hmm.. your the spilled sauce thing got me thinking, maybe it really isn't that bad to eat in front of guys! If only my nerves agreed with me. I just tend to get all stiff-like and only worry about how silly I look and I could do to keep from looking silly. Well, aren't you lucky! I wish my body functioned the yours does and maybe I wouldn't worry about bikini season! You know what? I'm going to take your advice and just eat! Well, at least I'll try and maybe my friend will listen too...

I've been afraid of eating in front of a guy, just ask hubby about our first date! I'm not a lil girl so when you saw a girl in high school who ate like "dump truck" from Heather's she was teased and tormented. I thought to myself I"m not skinny & haven't been since I was 12 and if they treat her that way & I'm 75lbs lighter than her (she had to be atleast 300) there's not a shot in H E L L I will eat in the cafeteria or public place for fear of the same treatment. As I was tormented as a teen and raised by an overeater who told me to down my owes in cake ect. But anyways that's my reason for being afraid or timid in eating infront of people. My hubby even had to fix my plate at a fmail event I was so shy to do so infront of people... It's so engrained in my head if you are "fat" you shouldn't eat in public.

I guess that's what society bought us to think that way. I don't know why people like to so cruel to each other. I mean if I see someone eating, no matter what size, I just see someone eating because they're hungry. But eating for consolations won't make you happy. It will make you more depressed because of the weight you will have gained.

I don't do that. I really love to eat and if the guy really likes me. Eating is a part me and there's nothing he can do about that. I will not allow myself to be hungry then.

I completely agree with what you're saying, but it just kind makes the situation feel a little awkward because you picture the guy as your conscience and your conscience usually is not your best friend during guy situations. So, I think the reason why we do it (why we feel uncomfortable) is because of our conscience.
